It Started with a Note by Victoria Cooke

Today I am pleased to bring you my review as part of the blog blitz for this engaging read from Victoria Cooke. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources form inviting to me to take part and for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Book Description
One lost letter. A chance to change her life!
Superhero single mum Cath always puts other people first. But now that she’s seen her son safely off to university (phew!), life seems a little, well…empty.
So when Cath unexpectedly discovers some letters written by her great-grandfather during the First World War, she decides to take herself on an adventure to France to retrace his footsteps.
Cath expects to spend her holiday visiting famous battlefields and testing out her French phrase book. What she doesn’t anticipate is that her tour guide, the handsome Olivier, will be quite so charming! Soon Cath isn’t simply unearthing the stories of the past – she’s writing a brand new one of her own, which might end up taking her in a very unexpected direction…

My Review
This is an emotive and heart warming read that will absorb you from the first page to the last.
Cath is feeling lonely after her son leaves for university, and she's getting fed up with her lazy brother, Gary not helping her out after she gave him a roof over his head. She has no-one to celebrate her good news of a bonus at work with at work and she is fed up. She ventures into the attic one evening feeling alone again and stumbles across a pile of letters that were written by her great-grandfather during World War One. Cath is soon absorbed in the letters, The more she reads the more she wants to learn about what happened to him and what he went through during the war.
In work the next day she talks about the letters to her work friend Kaitlynn, who then persuades Cathy to book a much deserved holiday and head out to France to find out what happened to her Great-grandad and visit his final resting place.
It isn't long before Cath is  sat on the ferry heading to France, she is nervous at first and is unsure that she has made the right decision but it doesn't take her long to decide that she is doing the right thing and she is soon on her way to have an adventure of her own.
It's in her hotel that she starts meeting new people and making friends who all persuade her to go on some coach trips with them to explore the areas that her great-grandfather would have visited and have fought in.
Its on these trips that she meets the handsome Olivier who makes her heart flutter and there is an obvious spark between them both but will either of them act on it or will the remain just good friends.
This is a fascinating read that entwines a love story from during the first world war with the modern day. It gives you good insight into the sites in the North of France, from which the war would have taken place and gives you a taste of history from the past and gives you an idea of how it looks now.
This book is a fantastic read that thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish and I'm really looking forward to reading what adventure Victoria will be taking us on next.

A Little Hotel in Cornwall by Laura Briggs - Cover Reveal

Today I am excited to be part of the cover reveal for the latest release from Laura Briggs. It looks absolutely stunning and I am pleased I have been able to share this with you all.
Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to be part of the cover reveal.

Book Description
Struggling American waitress and aspiring novelist Maisie Clark dreams of becoming a full-time writer — even though in real life she's just lost her chance at an exclusive writer's mentorship program that would give her novel its big break. Desperate, she decides to take a chance and ask her favourite writer, a celebrated but reclusive English novelist, to help her find a second chance.

When she receives the author's reply in an envelope with a Cornish postmark, Maisie decides not to take the writer's half-hearted 'no' for an answer. With nothing to lose, she takes off for the author's last known location, a beautiful hotel on Cornwall's western coast. But when the hotel mistakes her for the latest applicant for a maid's position, Maisie finds herself given an opportunity too good to lose ... and a chance for a summer adventure far bigger than she ever imagined.

Surrounded by breathtaking Cornwall and working in an elegant hotel, Maisie's world becomes one of secret identities, quirky friends, and unintentional mishaps — and despite reminders of past relationship disasters, a certain handsome, charming local resident Sidney Daniels has her conflicted about her heart's desires, too.

Will Maisie find the chance she's been waiting for — and a possible new romance — in her perfect Cornish summer?

Summer on the Italian Lakes by Lucy Coleman

Today I am so excited to bring you my review as part of the blog tour for this sunshine filled read from Lucy Coleman. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take and for my copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Book Description
Bestselling Brianna Middleton has won the hearts of millions of readers with her sweeping - and steamy - love stories. But the girl behind the typewriter is struggling... Not only does she have writer's block, but she's a world-famous romance author with zero romance in her own life.
So the opportunity to spend the summer teaching at a writer's retreat in an idyllic villa on the shores of Lake Garda - owned by superstar author Arran Jamieson - could this be just the thing to fire up Brie's writing - and romantic - mojo?
Brie's sun-drenched Italian summer could be the beginning of this writer's very own happy- ever-after...
Escape the January blues with this sun-drenched, heart-warming story from the bestselling author of Snowflakes Over Holly Cove.

My Review
This book is the perfect read for a cold and wet February day as it will transport you to the sunshine and blue skies of Italy and leave you with a warm and cosy feeling inside.
Brianna is a bestselling author in the grip of writers block after a very public break up with her rockstar boyfriend Paul. She retreats into herself after feeling humiliated by internet trolls after they attack her self confidence during her relationship with Paul. Thankfully her family and friends intervene and help Brianna out of the dark place she is hiding in.
After a day visit to a spa with her best friend Mel, a swish new haircut and learning how to look after herself a bit more Brianna is soon starting to climb out of the shadows and get back to being her normal self and her confidence is growing by the day.
When Brie is approached by her agent, and friend Carrie to go and work in Italy at a writing retreat for four weeks she is at first very reluctant to go. however, with a little persuasion, and being given the opportunity of being able to write again now her writers block has lifted she is soon boarding a flight and about to meet her host at the retreat, a fellow author Arran Jamieson.
At first the two of them seem very guarded with each other, and neither of them wants to share much about themselves with each other, as the first week progresses they both start to let their guard down and share some information with each other and it isn't long before sparks start to fly between the pair of them. This helps enormously with Brie's writing and her creative juices are in full flow as she is not writing one book but two. One is a hot and steamy novel that Brie is famous for writing, but the other is a different book for her as she is writing a love story.
As they do get to know each other they start to learn so much about each others past and about how they became where they are today. Brie learns about the history of the villa and about how much it means to Arran, she also learns how close he is to losing all that he holds dear. As they get to know each other they realise just how much they care for each other but will they get their happy ending?
I really loved this book from start to finish and I was absorbed from the first page to the last. There are so many twists and turns with the book you just need to read more to find out what happens next.
I love how the book flowed and you get a great insight into the processes of writing a book and getting it published. The setting for the book sounds beautiful and it is described so well you can almost feel the sunshine on your back and it makes you want to reach for a chilled glass of wine.
I am a big fan of Linn B. Halton and I'm really looking forward to seeing where her next book will take us.

An Impossible Thing Called Love by Belinda Missen

Today I am excited to bring you my review as part of the blog tour for this brilliant read from Belinda  Missen. A big thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me total part and for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Book Description
Don’t miss the new delightfully uplifting book from the author of A Recipe for Disaster! A second chance at love...
When globe-trotting Emmy first fell for first-aider William on a freezing New Year’s Eve, she really believed that their love would go the distance.
But when she returns to Australia, her letters start to go unanswered and her emails bounce back unread, Emmy decides it’s time to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and start afresh in London.
So she’s shocked when William walks in on her very first day at her new job! Even worse, he’s hotter than ever. But why did he disappear for so long? What has he been hiding? And could this really be their second chance at falling in love...?
Perfect for fans of Carole Mathews, Mhairi McFarlane and Carrie Hope Fletcher.

My Review
Emmy is on a tour of Europe with her friends, Josh and Heather and they find themselves celebrating New Years Eve in Edinburgh, Scotland. It is here that after trying to stop a fight that Emmy finds herself on the wrong end of a punch. She is seeing stars and in need of first aid. it is here that she meets William and there is an instant spark between the two of them.
Emmy and William soon become inseparable and with their remaining time away. It all ends too soon once Emmy flies home to Australia. Bothe her and William decide to stay in touch and they are soon emailing and writing to each other. They share news, chat and send gifts to each other. However Emmy is shocked to find that William suddenly stops writing and emailing her leaving her heartbroken.
Emmy ends up in a new relationship with Craig and they decide to follow in the footsteps of Heather and Josh, and head over to work in London. It is while working at a Drs surgery in London that Emmy finds out that one of her new employees is William.
They are both shocked to start with and neither of them know how to deal with the situation. it isn't long however when they begin to build bridges between them and they soon spark up friendship again, could this also be the beginning of their romance starting up again.
I loved the different settings in this book as they flow so well between Sydney, Australia and London. It great to be able to compare the two Cities and the differences in them.
The writing in this book is highly addictive and it flows really well keeping you hooked if from the first page to the last.
This is the second book I have read by Belinda and I'm looking forward to seeing what she comes up with next.

The Secret to Falling in Love by Victoria Cooke

The Secret to Falling in Love
by
Victoria Cooke

Today I am on the book birthday blitz for this fantastic read from Victoria Cooke. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Book Description
Lifestyle journalist and thirty-something singleton Melissa hashtags, insta's and snapchats her supposedly fabulous life on every social media platform there is.
That is until she wakes up on her birthday, another year older and still alone, wondering if for all her internet dates, love really can be found online? The challenge: go technology free for a whole month!
Forced to confront the reality of her life without its perfect filters, Melissa knows she needs to make some changes. But when she bumps into not one, but two gorgeous men, without the use of an app, she believes there could be hope for love offline.
If only there was a way to choose the right guy for her...

My Review
Melissa is a lifestyle journalist who enjoys  living her life through social media. Her life is put up on social media for all to see and she never forgets to add a hashtag. Melissa even does her dating online, although the is not proving to be very successful for her. Melissa is set a challenge by her boss, Dee to see if she is able to go a whole month with no internet and no technology. Melissa is sceptic at first and isn't sure how  she will survive without her beloved phone. However it isn't long before she starts to notice the world around her, more aware of the people around her and her need to make more conversations with those around her too. There is one flaw with this however as she meets not one but two Gorgeous men who both seem keen to date her. With no phone and no social media she doesn't want to miss out on this opportunity to keep in contact with them so she goes back to basics and starts writing notes.
With the notes a success it sees Melissa going on dates with both Joseph, and Scott. Both of them seem like nice guys and she feels a connection to both, but she soon finds out one date wasn't all it seemed to be. This does give her confidence a knock however she is soon back to her old self again and she knows what she wants, and who she wants to share her life with.
I liked the character of Melissa and you got a great insight into her life. She has a great group of people around her to support and encourage her. They are also there to make sure that Melissa keeps smiling. I really enjoyed reading this book.   It flowed really well and kept you guessing all the way through. With Melissa having a technology ban you get to see what life could be like without it. It did open my eyes to just how much I myself use technology and made me more conscious of when I use it.
This was the first book I have read by Victoria cooke and I'm looking forward to reading more.

The Talisman - Molly's Story by Eliza J. Scott

The Talisman - Molly's Story
by
Eliza J. Scott

Today I am excited to be part of the blog tour for this fantastic read from Eliza J. Scott. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part. I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Molly’s dream of taking over her childhood home at Withrin Hill Farm with husband Pip and their three children has finally come true. And, as they settle into the stunning Georgian farmhouse, with their plans to diversify into glamping nicely taking shape, the family couldn’t be happier.
But tragedy suddenly strikes, and Molly’s world is turned upside down.
Heartbroken and devastated, she struggles to face each day. True to form, her fiercely loyal best friends, Kitty and Violet, rally round offering love and support, but Molly doesn’t think she’ll ever be able to smile again. Until the day a tall, dark stranger with twinkly eyes arrives...

Follow Molly’s story in book 2 of the Life on the Moors Series set in Lytell Stangdale, a picture-perfect village in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors, where life is anything but quiet.

A heart-warming story of love, friendship and hope.

My Review
This is a brilliant read that will have you absorbed from the first page to the last and will leave you with warm feeling in your heart.
Molly feels like she has got the perfect life that she always dreamed of. She has the house she always wanted that she shares with the love of her life, Pip, her twin boys, Ben and Tom and her younger daughter Emmie, and the business of a glamping site that they are setting up on their farm. Life is all going along nicely with their business expanding thanks to the help of the twins and Molly and Pip are both still very much in love with each other even after being together since they were in their teens. That is until their lives are rocked by tragedy.  They are all shook to the core with the loss and they are all unsure how they can carry on. Thanks to the help of Molly's Parents and the help of Molly's best friends, Vi and Kitty they are all given the support to carry on.
Life for them all carries on and when a handsome stranger who Molly feels a strange connection with sparks begin to fly.
really enjoy the writing style of Eliza it flows really well and keeps you hooked into the story. You get a great insight into the area the book is set and its described so well you could be sat looking at the Moors with Molly. I really liked the character of Molly, she is strong, feisty and will always try and stick up for herself. It's when tragedy strikes that you get to see another side of Molly, one that is very vulnerable and fragile. Although its hard to see her like this you do see how this helps her to repair herself and get back to being her old self.
This book is the second in the Life on the Moors series but can be read as a standalone read. I have not read the previous book but it has already been added to my TBR pile.
Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
