TheSingle Mums Move On by Janet Hoggarth

Today I am excited to share with you my review of this brilliant new release from Janet Hoggart. Thank you to Aria Fiction for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
Can neighbours become more than good friends...
After her husband left her, Ali and her daughter Grace enjoyed living in what became known as 'the Single Mums' Mansion'. However, with her best friends Amanda and Jacqui moving on, it's time for Ali and Grace to make their own way. Thankfully, a chance conversation leads to them moving into the infamous South London gated community known only as 'The Mews'.
In 'The Mews' everyone lives in each other's pockets and curtain twitching is an Olympic sport. The neighbours are an eclectic bunch – from Nick the alleged spy, Carl the gorgeous but clearly troubled Idris Elba lookalike, to Debbie who is about to face the hardest fight of her life, and TV agent Samantha who is not as in control as she likes to pretend.
Each day brings another drama, but along with the tears, real friendships grow. And her neighbours' problems might unlock the key to something Ali has yearned for all along...
Based on a true story – you'll never be able to look at your neighbours quite the same way again...
Perfect for fans of Marian Keyes, Mhairi McFarlane and Helen Fielding.

My Review
I was really looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed. This book had me engrossed from start to finish.
Ali enjoyed the time she had spent living in the 'Single mums Mansion' with her daughter Grace after being left by her husband. They have had some good times there and made some fantastic friends, but with two of her friends now moving on Grace feels that her and Grace should do the same too.
Ali and Grace find themselves living in the close knit and very nosy gated community known as 'The Mews'. It soon becomes apparent just how nosy all of the residents are and just how much they all live in each others pockets.
all of the residents have their own quirks and some are easier to get on with than others but Ali and Grace are soon making friends. Life within the Mews is full of drama but amongst that there does lay some good friendships that blossom as the story goes on.
Will Ali find everything she is looking for at 'The Mews'?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It is the second in the series but can easily be read as a standalone read.
There are some brilliant characters within the book and they all ad something different to the story. I loved the character of Ali she was so down to earth and very relatable. The way she cares for her daughter is fantastic too.
This is the first book I have read from Janet Hoggarth and I am already looking forward to reading what comes next.

A Cornish Affair by Jo Lambert

Today I am excited to share with you my review of this fantastic summer read from Jo Lambert. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
In the close-knit community of Carrenporth in Cornwall everyone knows everyone else’s business. Luke Carrack is only too aware of this. He’s been away for two years but nothing has changed – from the town gossips who can’t see past the scandal of his childhood, to the cold way he is treated by some of his so-called family.

The only person who seems to understand is local hotelier’s daughter Cat Trevelyan, although even Luke’s new friendship with her could set tongues wagging.
But Carrenporth is about to experience far bigger scandals than the return of Luke Carrack – and the secrets unearthed in the process will shake the sleepy seaside town to its core …

My Review
This is a fantastic read that had me absorbed from the first page to the last and I couldn't put it down.
Cat Trevelyan is working as part of the management team at her fathers hotel in Carrenporth. She really enjoys her job working with both her Father and her twin brother Nathan.
Luke Carrack has returned to Carrenporth after spending the last two years travelling. With Carrenporth being such a small and close knit town everyone knows each other and word of Luke's return is soon know by all of the residents. Luke is aware that his past is known by the whole community and its a past he is trying to move on from. With a new job working with his uncle Gareth, who cared for him as he grew up and a new home to renovate Luke has got plenty of things to fill his time. That is until a chance meeting with Cat that starts to turn his life upside down.
The two of them strike up a friendship but it isn't long before there is more between the two of them and they both begin to fall in love.
The two of them are both very happy that is until an incident shocks the whole town and puts a huge strain on their relationship. Is their relationship set to fail before its even had chance to blossom, or will love conquer all?
I absolutely adored this book. It is full of strong characters all with their own stories to tell. It's great how all of the characters lives are all interwoven into each others too. The character of Cat was fun to read. She is a very strong woman who loves her life jut how it is her and her job is her life. It was great to read her change her perspective. Luke is a very complex character. He did not have the best start in his life but he has not let that define him.
The setting in Cornwall was perfect and sounds like the perfect place to sit back and relax. There are also a few beautiful sounding trips to Italy added in too.
This was the first book I have read from Jo Lambert and I am looking forward to reading more.

That Long Lost Summer by Minna Howard

Today I am on the blog tour for this brilliant read from Minna Howard. Thank you to Aria fiction for my copy of the book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
A gorgeous and bittersweet romance set in the South of France, about an old passion rekindled and the choice between family loyalty and a great love.
Flora and Hugo are devoted to their children, but when their girls leave home for university, their lives seem empty. Hugo is cold and distant, leaving Flora unsure what their future holds. When they are invited to a friend's villa in the South of France, Flora hopes the summer sun and gorgeous setting may bring them closer together. In a crumbling, picturesque villa in the luscious French countryside, they are introduced to Susie, Matt and their friends. Flora is surprised to meet Xavier, her old flame, who she fell in love with one long lost summer when she was eighteen. They parted suddenly all those years ago, leaving Flora wondering, what if...
Handsome, passionate, sensitive, Xavier is so different from her reliable, predictable Hugo. Both Flora and Xavier have moved on with their lives, but is there something that still lingers between them? Or will Flora's devotion to her children, and her loyalty to Hugo, show her where her true heart lies...

My Review
I was really excited to be given the chance to read and review this latest release from Minna Howard and I was not disappointed.
Flora and Hugo are feeling lost after their children fly the nest and head off to university. After spending so long being devoted to their children they both feel like their lives are empty and are not sure how to fill them back up again.
Flora feels that Hugo is becoming more and more quiet and distant with her and she doesn't know what to do to fix things.
When they are invited to spend the summer at their friends villa in the South of France Flora jumps at the chance as this could be the break. that brings them both back together again.
That is until they meet Matt, Susie and Xavier. Xavier is a face from her past and is one who stole her heart during a summer when she was eighteen. Will meeting up with him again bring back old feelings alongside the memories they share, will that be enough to make Hugo realise how good their marriage and relationship is and will they stay together?
I really enjoyed this book from start to finish. The writing style is fantastic and really keeps you drawn into the story. I really liked getting to know all of the characters and it was great to see what Flora wants and needs in her life now that its only the two of them.
The setting in the south of France sounds amazing and a great setting for this read.

When Polly Met Olly by Zoe May

Today I am pleased to share with you my review this brilliant romantic comedy from Zoe May. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join this blog blitz and for my copy of the book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
Polly and Olly were never supposed to meet…
Polly might spend her days searching for eligible matches for her elite list of clients at her New York dating agency, but her own love life is starting to go up in smoke.
Even worse, she can’t stop thinking about the very person she’s meant to be setting her latest client up with… surely it can’t get any worse!
But then Polly bumps into oh-so-handsome Olly, who heads up a rival agency, and realizes that perhaps all really is fair in love and dating war…
Perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Debbie Viggiano.

My Review
Polly has been trying to make a success of a career as a photographer but things are not going to plan. She is in need of money so she decides to apply for a job at the Internet dating site. 'to the moon and back'. Polly feels the interview went really well and is pleased when she gets offered the position working alongside the business owner Derek.
It is Polly's job to match up couples on the website after asking them all plenty of questions and chatting with them too.
Polly is enjoying her job but it emphasises the fact that she is lacking in a love life herself.
That is until she meets Olly who works at a rival dating site. things between the pair start off shaky as Polly is sent there on an undercover mission from Derek. Polly feels herself drawn to Olly however he does work for the rival company and does Polly really want to get involved with him? Will Polly finally find love online too?
I loved the setting of New York in this book it works perfectly with the storyline. I really liked getting to know the characters within the book, they all gelled well together and her form the lives of each other too. I thought Gabe was great fun. It was great to read Polly grow I confidence as the story went along and you do see her enjoying her life more too.
Zoe May has done it again. This is such a brilliant and funny read that I couldn't put down.
I'm looking forward to reading more.

The Little Vineyard in Provence by Ruth Kelly

Today I am excited to share with you my review of this brilliant summer read from Ruth Kelly. Thank you to Tracy of the Compulsive Readers for my copy of the book in exchange form honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

Ava needs to escape.
Stuck in a dead-end job, her husband Mark has left her with a mountain of debt and no clue as to when he'll be back.
When she receives the news that her grandfather has passed away, Ava is shocked to learn he has left his entire vineyard, Chateau Saint Clair, to her.
Fresh coffee and croissants for breakfast, a glass of red with the handsome local waiter Jacques; Ava starts to feel quite at home. But it would be madness to walk away from her marriage, to take a chance on a place she fell for as a child - wouldn't it?
Fans of Jenny Colgan, Lucy Diamond and Veronica Henry will want to join Ava for a glass of wine as the sun sets on the terrace at Chateau Saint Clair.

My Review
This is a brilliant summer read that I could not put down.
Ava's life is not turning out how she planned at all. She has just found out that her husband, Mark has been lying to her. He has been gambling away all of their money and has racked up huge debts for Ava to pay. With a daughter, Sophie and a job that she hates Ava is not sure how to deal with the way her husband has treated her.
Ava then finds out that her grandfather has passed away. Ava is further shocked by this when she finds out that the has left her in his will his vineyard in Provence. Ava now has a difficult decision to make one that will change her family.
Ava decides, after much persuasion from her friend to head to the vineyard. putting some distance between herself and her husband will maybe help them get back on track. What Ava wasn't expecting to make a success of he vineyard and is pleased when after some hard work things work out for her. Now she has another difficult decision to make does she stay in Provence and continue to build the success of  the vineyard or does she return home to Mark?
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is perfect for a bit of escapism in the sunshine. The setting of the vineyard in the story was brilliant and I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters. I did feel sorry for Ava as she did have some big decisions to Make and her husband Mark did not treat her well either. It is nice to see Ava grow and develop with her time in Provence.
This is the first book I have read from Ruth Kelly and I'm looking forward to reading more.

How to Make Time for Me by Fiona Perrin

Today I am pleased to share with you my review of this brilliant release from Fiona Perrin. Thank you to Aria Fiction for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
No-one said being a single mum would be easy...

Everyone knows that being a single mother means having no time to yourself. But for Callie Brown, its more exhausting than most. She's juggling the needs of three teenage children, two live-in parents, a raffish ex-husband, and a dog who never stops eating.
The last thing Callie needs is anything more on her plate. So when she bumps (quite literally) into a handsome, age-appropriate cyclist, she's quick to dismiss him from her life. After all, if she doesn't have time to brush her hair in the morning, she certainly doesn't have time to fall in love...
Funny, heartwarming and oh-so-true, this is a novel about motherhood, families, and life after divorce, perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella and Allison Pearson.

My Review
This is a brilliant and very relatable read that I loved from start to finish.
Callie Brown is a single mum who is just doing the bests can to get by and do the best for her children, Twin girls and a stepson. Callie is excited to be leaving work and just getting home to her family for the evening when things take a turn for the worst and Callie is knocked over by a food delivery cyclist. She is slightly confused and is soon telling everyone that she is Miss invisible as that is just how she feels after doing everything for her family.
After a fantastic chat with a nurse at the hospital, with a few tears. Callie is discharged from the hospital and she gets a friend to give her lift home. Once at home her family has no idea of what happened to Callie and she doesn't share the information for what has happened during her day. They don't even ask where she has been.
Life for Callie as a single parent is very difficult. She finds it hard to please everyone. But when things really get tough or her she will fight for everything. She also feels she has no time for herself after giving everything she has to everyone else.
As the story progresses you see all of the ups and downs of single parenting and also working at the same time. Callie is doing her best to hold her family together, this proves to be very difficult when her stepson, Wilf's father is determined to have him live with his new wife in another country. With dealing with this and trying to get her twin daughters through their GCSE exams, as well as looking after her increasingly difficult parents life is hard for Callie and there is no time for romance for Callie either. Even if it is the handsome delivery driver that knocked her over.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It is very well written and flows with ease. I loved getting to know all of the characters that are in this story and I loved how they all had a part to play in the in the life of Callie Brown. I liked how all of the issues within the book could be things that could happen to all of us in our lives, this made you feel compassion for Callie.
This is the first book I have read by Fiona Perrin and I am really looking forward to reading more.
