Summer at My Sisters by Emily Harvale

Today is my stop on the Blog Tour for this heartwarming and uplifting new release from Emily Harvale. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

        Twin sisters. One scorching summer.

A bucketful of secrets.

Diana’s life is perfect. Her twin sister, Josie’s – not so much.

Diana has a rich and successful husband, two talented youngsters and an adorable dog. She always looks as if she’s stepped from the cover of a magazine. Her immaculate second home by the sea, for idyllic summers with her perfect family, was actually featured in one.

Josie has a messy, compact flat, dates, but not relationships, and she can’t even keep a houseplant alive. She moves from job to job, goes clubbing with her friends and often looks as if she’s fallen through a hedge.

Although Josie loves Diana deeply, each year she declines the invitation to spend the summer with her sister. Or any other family holiday. Because Josie has a secret.

But is Diana’s life so perfect? Or is she also hiding something? When secrets are revealed this summer, everything will change. Josie could finally have the life she’s always wanted … if she’s brave enough to take a chance.

My Review
This is a fantastic, heartwarming and uplifting read that I loved from beginning to end.
Josie enjoys her life in New York. She has a very compact and messy flat. She enjoys going on dates but doesn't do relationships. Josie moves from job to job as a temp but this is how she likes her life to be.
Josie receives a phone call from her mother telling her that there is a problem with her twin sister Diana and that Josie needs to go. and visit her to help her sort out the problem. The only thing is that her mum doesn't know exactly what the problem is.
Josie loves her twin sister Diana but the two of  them could not be more different.
Diana is the wife of a successful and wealthy husband, she has two amazing children and a crazy but lovable  dog. Diana also has a seaside holiday home in Seaside Harbour that her family head to every summer.
To Josie, Diana has the perfect life and doesn't understand what could possibly be wrong but on her mothers advice Josie heads to Seahorse Harbour for the summer.
Diana is shocked when her sister has finally accepts her offer to visit them all for the summer. Josie has always declined her sisters invitation so Diana is wondering was is going on. But Josie has a secret reason that she doesn't want to head back to the holiday resort of her childhood.
Josie is soon enjoying spending time with her niece and nephew and their adorable dog. But it soon becomes clear things are not all rosy in the life of Diana and as secrets begin to be revealed lives begin to change. Maybe this is the move that Josie needed to get herself the life she always wanted.
It is certainly a summer that neither sister will forget.
Emily Harvale has done it again with this wonderful summer read. The setting of Seahorse Harbour sounds idyllic and the perfect spot for some romance and sunshine.
I really enjoy the writing style of this book. The plot is full of twists and turns along the way and will keep you guessing the outcome for the sisters. It is also full of fun and laughter as the two of them get to know each other better and spend more time together.
Josie is such a loveable character to her to know. It is obvious that she loves her sister and her family but her secret has kept her away. Josie is determined to find out what's wrong with her sister and keep her family together.
Diana was a difficult character to get to know at the beginning as she was guarded about her life and it was obviously being to get her down. As the story progresses she does open up and realise how strong she has become.
There are some great supporting characters within the book who all play a part in the lives of Josie and Diana, this includes not one but three handsome and gorgeous sounding single men.
This is another fantastic release from Emily Harvale and I am already looking forward to the next adventure Emily will take us on.

Under a Siena Sun by T.A. Williams

Today is Publication Day for this perfect summer read from T.A. Williams. Thank you to Rachel's Random resources for inviting me to join the tour, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

Lucy needed a change of scene. She didn’t expect the change of a lifetime.

Doctors Without Borders has been Lucy Young’s life for the past four years. After being rescued from a conflict zone, she’s making a change from saving lives under gunfire to practising medicine in safe, serene Siena.

Now treating wealthy patients at a private clinic, she's never felt less comfortable. She’s used to helping those in dire need – not those in need of a nip and tuck. Her turmoil grows when she encounters injured tennis star David Lorenzo, whose smiles make Lucy forget her aversion to the rich.

She’s soon falling for the sportsman but is she losing herself in this world of excess? All she’s ever wanted was to help the underprivileged, so can her future lie in Siena at the clinic – with David?

This sunny romance is the perfect summer escape for fans of Lucy Coleman and Alex Brown.

My Review

This is the perfect summer read and one I did not want to put down.

Dr Lucy Young has been working as a doctor with Doctors Without Borders for the last four years. This finds her working in areas where there is a huge amount of conflict and she regularly is putting her life in danger. This last year has felt really difficult for Lucy and after being rescued from a conflict zone with what seemed like minutes to spare Lucy begins to evaluate her life and decides that she needs a break from her work for some much needed rest.

Lucy decides to go and visit he best friend in Italy who is getting married. Lucy knows they will take care of her and let her get the rest her body and mind need.

Lucy is loving being back in Italy it is giving her the chance to think about how she wants her career to process and where she wants to go with her life. Then when a job offer comes her way to work in a private clinic caring for wealthy patients Lucy decides to take the opportunity to stay in Italy.

The job is very different for Lucy, all she ever wanted to do as a doctor is to help the most in need and the is causing her discomfort with the decision she made.

One of patients at the clinic, the handsome, famous tennis player David Lorenzo does catch Lucy's eye and she does enjoy his company. He makes Lucy forget about her worries with work and he also puts a smile on her face.

Lucy finds herself drawn to David and its not long before she is falling for him. Lucy is worried though that she is being drawn into a world of wealth and excess which goes against the ethics she has. She has a big decision to make. Should she go back to working with Doctors Without Borders where she can help the most vulnerable of patients, or does her future lay in the Siena sunshine with David.

It is going to be a difficult decision.

I loved this book and found it gave me some much needed sunshine. The book is written well so that it has a natural flow to it and with the description of the beautiful scenery of Italy, it really does fee like you a transported away to enjoy Italy too.

I enjoyed getting to know Lucy. She is a very kind and loving person who just wants to be able to do her best for those who she feels need the most help. As the story progresses you get an insight of why this means so much to Lucy and why she has worked so hard.

Getting to know David was difficult at first, as after an injury to his shoulder his life changes and he is no longer able to compete. This has a huge affect on him and he hides away. He is also getting over his wife leaving him. It is lovely to see him open up the more time he spends with Lucy.

There is a cast of supporting characters Witi the book who all help Lucy settle into life in Italy and who become firm friends.

This book has a wonderful way of injecting some much needed sunshine into your life and taking you away from all that is happening in the world at the moment. Escapism at its best and definitely a great addition to your summer reading.

About the Author

I’m a man. And a pretty old man as well. I did languages at university a long time ago and then lived and worked in France and Switzerland before going to Italy for seven years as a teacher of English. My Italian wife and I then came back to the UK with our little daughter (now long-since grown up) where I ran a big English language school for many years. We now live in a sleepy little village in Devonshire. I’ve been writing almost all my life but it was only seven years ago that I finally managed to find a publisher who liked my work enough to offer me my first contract.

The fact that I am now writing romantic comedy is something I still find hard to explain. My early books were thrillers and historical novels. Maybe it’s because there are so many horrible things happening in the world today that I feel I need to do my best to provide something to cheer my readers up. My books provide escapism to some gorgeous locations, even if travel to them is currently difficult.

Starcross Manor by Christie Barlow

Today I am pleased to share with you my review of the fun and heartwarming new release from Christie Barlow. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

Dying to know more about the brooding and mysterious Flynn Carter and the secrets behind his plans for Starcross Manor?

You won’t want to miss the next spellbinding chapter in the Love Heart Lane series – where friends are there for you no matter what.

When Julia Coleman meets Flynn Carter again in the cosy village of Heartcross it can only mean trouble. Flynn might be rich, brooding and sexy, but Julia knows first-hand he’s ruthless and she plans to watch his every move.

When Julia discovers Flynn’s plans for beautiful Starcross Manor her greatest fears come true.  Because Flynn’s dreams of turning Starcross into a luxury hotel could ruin Julia’s dreams…and finish off the community of Heartcross for good.

Flynn makes it clear he doesn’t want trouble, and he’s not the man Julia thinks he is.  As he sets about convincing the community he’s changed, he hopes he can convince Julia to give him another chance too…

My Review

This is the latest heartwarming and uplifting read in the brilliant Love Heart Lane series from Christie Barlow and it is another of her books I could not put down.

Julia Coleman runs a successful B and B in the Village of Heartcross. It is a business she has spent time and effort building up and she is proud of how much she has accomplished. She even has plans to extend the B and B so that she can take on more customers and make her business grow further.

Julia is shocked to see Flynn Carter in the village pub. He is a face from the past that Julia is not happy to see. The rest of the village find him to be a charming man but Julia knows just how cruel and heartless he can be. Julia is even more stunned when she finds out the reason he is in the village. Flynn has big plans to turn Starcross Manor into a luxurious five star hotel, this could ruin not only Julia's dreams, but mean trouble for the whole village too.

Flynn makes his his plan known to all of the businesses in Heartcross and that he has no plans to take over  the village. this takes some convincing from all of the villagers concerned, and when disaster strikes at the B and B he swoops in to help Julia and save her business.

Maybe Flynn is not the man that Julia thought he was but time will tell will he be able to gain her trust and prove he's not a bad guy after all?

This is a great addition to the Love Heart Lane series that i have simply adored. The writing style of the book flows well and the settings are described in such a way that you feel like you are transported to the village too.

This story in the series features Julia and Flynn. It tells the story of there lives and how much they both want success. Julia has been brought up in the Village of Heartcross and wants to continue to be a big part of the village. You do get to know her more as the book progresses and you find out why her business means so much to her and why she feels the way she does about Flynn.

Flynn Carter has worked hard to make his business a success and this has give him a great reputation in the hotel business. Life has not always been easy for him and he has heartache and issues to deal with in his past too. He is determined to prove to Julia how much of a nice guy he is and that he can be trusted. This is going to take some hard work from Flynn as Julia is a tough nut to crack.

The setting of Starcross Manor sounds simply divine and a place we could all use to escape to from time to time.

This is the forth book in the Love Heart Lane Series and does include all of the characters from Heartcross that we have grown to know and love. These books are a delight to read and are the perfect form of escapism from real life.

Christie Barlow has such a talent of whipping you away from your life for a few hours and taking you on another adventure in the Scottish Highlands.

Losing Control by Rachael Stewart

Today is Publication Day for this hot and steamy new release from Rachael Stewart. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part in this Publication Day Push, and for a copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

She watched him walk away…

…and now he’s back to claim her!

A family feud forced me to walk away from the woman of my dreams, Alexa—but I didn’t expect her to betray me by falling into my brother’s arms. Now, after a tragic accident, I’ve returned home to find Alexa leading the family business…and the chemistry between us is hotter than ever. The sparks reignite our electrifying connection, but can we learn to trust each other again?

My Review
Having read the previous releases from Rachael, and adoring each and every one I could not wait to get started reading this latest release, and WOW I was not disappointed. This is Rachael Stewart at her best.
Cain finds himself returning to the family business. His mother has begged him to return and help with the business after the death of his father and brother. This is a huge struggle for Cain as seven years ago he ran away from the family and his fiancee Alexa after feeling betrayed by them all.
He has made a big success of his life trying to prove his family wrong but he never thought he would end up working for the family business.
When he sees Alexa again for the first time in seven years he is shocked how much he still feels for her but he must keep it hidden.
Alexa has found herself flung into the job of now running the business that her father in law and husband owned. She has always worked there as part of the team and enjoyed her work, but now she finds herself in charge and not enjoying her work life at all. She is also grieving the loss of her husband too.
Alexa is shocked to see Cain again. She feels all these emotions coming back to her and she is determined to keep things professional between the pair, especially when she finds out he will be working with her now too.
As the two of them get reacquainted with each other it becomes obvious that they struggle to keep this on a professional level. Both of them have been hurt in the past and they are both holding onto that hurt all these years later. It is clear however that there is a spark of chemistry between them both and its something they are both trying to keep hidden, but spending more and more time together is making this impossible. Will the pair of them be able to get over their past or will the secret that Alexa is keeping to herself be too much for the couple to bear. This is definitely going to be a bumpy ride.
The is such an enticing and exciting read that is full of twists and turns throughout the book that keep you guessing right up until the very end. I really like that no two books from Rachael are the same so you can never predict what the outcome may be.
I enjoyed how the story is told from a duel perspective and this gives great insight into both of the main characters. You realise why both of them are hurt so much from the past and why they are both trying to remain professional throughout. They are also hiding big secrets from each other that they feel will only cause more upset and hurt.
The writing style of the this book flows well and you can feel the heat and sexual tension dripping from every page.
The is a brilliant new release from Racheal Stewart and one you should definitely add to your collection.

About the Author

Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic.

She's been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true.

A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she's not glued to her laptop, she's wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration.

Lucy's Great Escape, little Duck Pond Cafe by Rosie Green

Today I am excited to share with you my review of this wonderful new release in the Little Duck Pond Cafe series from Rosie Green. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

Lucy never wanted to abandon her friends and family, and travel to the other side of the country to start a new life. And all without telling anyone where she was going. But these are desperate times. And finding herself with a nightmare of a dilemma, fleeing her home town seems like the only way she can protect herself and those she loves.

The Cornish town of Pengully Sands holds happy childhood memories for Lucy and seems the perfect place to escape to, although having little money and no friends, life at first seems grim.

But a chance meeting with Madison and the rest of the Little Duck Pond CafĂ© girls, plus a decidedly attractive local guy who won’t take no for an answer, gives Lucy a glimmer of hope for the future. Could she really settle in Pengully Sands and make a living by selling her watercolours?

But just as life is starting to look a little rosier, it becomes clear that someone back home – the last person she ever wanted to see – has tracked her down…

My Review
This is a great addition to the Little Duck Pond Cafe series and I loved it from beginning to end.
Lucy needs a quick way to escape from her difficult life. She is seriously worried about her own mental health and decides getting away from her family and friends is what she needs to find herself again.
Lucy makes a speedy getaway, packing only the essentials and and jumping into her mums beloved camper she is on her way.
Lucy decides to head to The Cornish town of Pengully Sands. It holds a place in her heart from all of her childhood memories of trips there with her late mother.
The only issue is that she has no money and no friends and this begins to tarnish the memories she has.
She does find herself a job but the boss is not want she seems and this makes Lucy feel incredibly uneasy.
Just when Lucy feels like life is really getting to her she has a chance meeting with Madison who feels sorry for Lucy and takes her under her wing.
Madison immediately introduces Lucy to the Duck Pond Cafe girls and Lucy begins to feel happier with her decision to stay in Pengully Sands. They even try and persuade Lucy to start selling the watercolour paintings she has been doing since her arrival in Cornwall.
Love could be on the horizon for Lucy too as she gets to know the handsome Gabe.
Lucy is really enjoying creating herself a new life in Pengully Sands, that is until someone from her past finds out where she is and is determined to to ruin her life. Is Lucy strong enough and will she be brave enough to stop this once and for all?
Wow this is such a drama filled book from beginning to end and a wonderful addition to the series.
This book focuses on the life of Lucy and all that she has had to deal with. The girls from the Little Duck pond Cafe take a back seat in this story, but do provide the fantastic support to Lucy that we have seen in the previous releases.
Lucy was an interesting character to get to know. She is obviously dealing with a huge amount of heartache and she really feels like she has no-one to turn too.
Life for Lucy is hard and it is great to see her gaining in confidence as the story progresses and how much she values the support from the girls around her.
The setting of the book in Pengully Sands sounds simply beautiful and it was great to see more of it in this book.
This is a simply brilliant addition to the Little Duck Pond Cafe series and it was a delight to read.
I am already looking forward to the next instalment in the series from Rosie Green.

About the Author

Rosie has been scribbling stories ever since she was little. Back then, they were rip-roaring adventure tales with a young heroine in perilous danger of falling off a cliff or being tied up by ‘the baddies’. Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all – unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love. Rosie’s Little Duck Pond Cafe series of novellas is centred around life in a village cafe. Each book can be read as a stand-alone story. The latest, ‘Lucy’s Great Escape’, is out now. Watch out for further tales of the Little Duck Pond Cafe, including the delicious ‘Log Fires & Toffee Apple Cake’, which will be published in autumn 2020.
