Probably the Best Kiss in the World by Pernille Hughes




Today I am so excited to be sharing with you my review of this fantastic, romantic and fun read from Pernille Hughes as part of the blog tour. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and for my copy of the book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. 


Book description
Jen Attison likes her life Just So. But being fished out of a canal in Copenhagen by her knickers is definitely NOT on her to do list. From cinnamon swirls to a spontaneous night of laughter and fireworks, Jen’s city break with the girls takes a turn for the unexpected because of her gorgeous, mystery rescuer.
Back home, Jen faces a choice. A surprise proposal from her boyfriend, ‘boring’ Robert has offered Jen the safety net she always thought she wanted. But with the memories of her Danish adventure proving hard to forget, maybe it’s time for Jen to stop listening to her head and start following her heart…


My Review
Jen likes her life to be as planned as possible and Jen lives her life by her spreadsheets and apps. of which she has many. She likes her life this way and is not keen on any surprises along the way. Her life has been like the since the death of her parents and she became the guardian for her sister, Lydia. 
Jen's other passion in life is brewing her own real ales. She has a real knack for it and is often winning awards for her own signature blends. 
All this starts to change however as her boyfriend, Robert has big plans for them both when her proposes to Jen. His plans do not seem to include what Jen wants at all but is he the stability that Jen needs to complete her life.
Jen's friends decide to surprise her with a hen do to Copenhagen and its there that disaster strikes and Jen ends up being fished out of the canal there by a very handsome stranger. They spend the evening together, enjoying the sites of Copenhagen over a meal and there is definitely a spark between the two of them. This is something that Jen is determined to get out of her head as she is meant to to be marrying Robert. But is marrying him the best thing for Jen as he wants to make her change or should she follow her heart and see where her life will take her. This is definitely something she cannot decide by creating a spreadsheet. 

 This is a fantastic read that really keeps you absorbed from the first page of to the last. 
I really liked the character of Jen. You do get a great understanding of why Jen feels she needs to keep her life so organised using spreadsheets and apps. She feels in full control of her life this way and is not keen to deviate from it at all. This is why Roberts surprise really confuses her especially when all her friends think he's "boring" and that she needs to live a little. I really like all of the Jen's friends and her sister Lydia. It's clear they all love and adore Jen and they only wants what's best for their friend.  Reading the book is obvious that her passion for brewing is what drives her and it is great to see her change and  develop as the story progresses.  Pernille obviously took plenty of time to research this part of the story line and her description of the real ales sound delicious. 
 I really enjoy the writing style of Pernille Hughes. its fun and really refreshing to read. I thoroughly enjoyed reading her debut novel Sweatpants at Tiffanies and was really looking forward to reading this and I was not disappointed.

Come Back to Me by Daniela Sacerdoti

My Review
Full of grief and remorse after the death of his wife, Matt, is in desperate need of a place to escape to and heal. When a good friend sees his distress he offers Matt the chance to get away from it all and head to the remote Seal Island.Matt grabs it and heads off to find some much needed peace and the chance to settle his mind.
Grace is the Island's Doctor. She loves being such an important part of the Seal Island community. Its is a lot quieter than her previous bustling practise in Edinburgh but the quieter life suits her and she does love the beauty of the Island.  Although she does have some regrets from her past that keep resurfacing and she is finding increasingly difficult to ignore.
Rose is laying in a coma in Seal Island's hospital. She is desperately trying to piece together her memories of what happened to her and wake up from what feels like a nightmare.
What follows is the story of the three of them trying to get their lives back on track, forgetting what's happened in the past and living for the here and now. Giving them all the chance of a new beginning.
I really loved the setting for this book. it sounds like the perfect place to get away from it all with some very dramatic scenery and a fantastic community feel. I loved reading about all of the quirks  that people have on the Island and how they all have a way of supporting each other and those within the area.
This book is very well written and has a way of drawing you in especially with such fantastic characters who you feel a real connection to. perfect for some escapism.
This is book three in the series however it can be read as a standalone read.

Dinner in the Sky by Anne John-Ligali Cover Reveal

Today I am pleased to be able to share with you my review for this fantastic, and fun rom-com from Zoe May. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

My Review
Sam is a political journalist, she has worked hard to get where she is and really enjoys her job. That is until her boss takes her off politics to cover what will be the wedding of the  year. The wedding between Norwegian Prince Isaac and the nations sweetheart, Holly. 
Sam is horrified by her bosses decision as she feels she is the least suitable person for the job. She is very anti weddings and doesn't believe in love after being jilted at the alter by her husband to be Ajay. He boss is determined that Sam is the perfect fit for this job and even tells her that this could be her chance to find love. Sam is very sceptical but she does reluctantly agree to do the job. 
Sam is shocked with how quickly her life becomes full of wedding fever and as reluctant as she is it isn't long before she gets swept up in it all too. 
Sam is soon spending all of her working time wading through wedding samples, visiting the dress designer ad eating the most delicious cake. 
While Sam is getting involved with all things wedding she keeps seeing the very handsome reporter Anders, he seems to pop up everywhere and is able to get the scoop earlier than her. It isn't long before Sam starts to enjoy bumping in Anders and Sam is beginning  to think that being in a relationship could be good for her. But is Anders everything he seems or is Sam going to get hurt again.
I loved this book from start to finish. Its perfect escapism, with some brilliant laugh out loud moments and I devoured it in one day. I loved the storyline of a royal wedding. I really enjoyed all of the different places and events that Sam went to, especially the meeting she had with the cake designer and trying all of the cakes and treats really made my mouth water!
The character of Sam was very well written and you got a great insight into why Sam is so anti wedding and doesn't want another relationship she is trying to protect herself. It's fun to see her change her view point and watch her become more confident. I liked the relationship she has with her friend Colette and I think she helps Sam by giving her the push when she needs it. 
I loved this book from Zoe May and she is fast becoming on of my top authors.

Zoe May lives in Oxford and writes romantic comedies. Zoe has dreamt of being a novelist since she was a teenager. Coming Home to Wishington Bay by Maxine Morrey

My Review
This is a fantastic fun read read that I knew I would love after reading just the first chapter which really made me laugh out loud and I was hooked in until the very last page. 
Holly has be forced by her boss to take a sabbatical after health problems strike her at work.  Reluctantly Holly agrees and decides to head to the cottage of her late grandmother, Gigi, on Washington Bay for the Summer. Her plan is to stay there and get the house up together ready to sell as she feels after the break she will be heading back to work and her life in London will return to normal. Little does she realise just how much she is going to enjoy her stay. She finds the time to wander into the village and enjoy spending time in the pretty seaside village.
 What Holly doesn't expect is for the village and the people in it to have such an impact on her life while she is there especially the handsome next door neighbour, Gabe, and his loveable dog Bryan. What follows is the summer that Holly has in Wishington Bay and at the end of her break will she still want to return to London and her Job. 
I loved this fun rom com from start to finish it is written so well and is highly addictive. Holly is a great character to read. She is probably like most of us where our jobs have taken over our lives. With Holly she uses work as a major distraction from her personal life, or lack of personal life. It's great to see her relax more as she stays in Wishington Bay and really start to let more people into her life. The more she lets people in the more fulfilling her life with feel. Its also great to see her building more of a relationship with her brother, Ned.
The setting in Wishington Bay sounds devine and the perfect place to get away to and relax. 
This is the latest release from Maxine Morrey and I am really looking forward to reading what she writes next.

About the Author

Maxine has wanted to be a writer for as long as she can remember and wrote her first (very short) book for school when she was ten.

As time went by, she continued to write, but 'normal' work often got in the way. She has written articles on a variety of subjects, as well as a local history book on Brighton. However, novels are her first love. 
In August 2015, she won Harper Collins/Carina UK's 'Write Christmas' competition with her first romantic comedy, 'Winter's Fairytale'.

Maxine lives on the south coast of England, and when not wrangling with words loves to read, sew and listen to podcasts. Being a fan of tea and cake, she can (should!) also be found doing something vaguely physical at the gym.
