Mum in The Middle
By Jane Wenham-Jones
After the break up of her marriage and her three children flying the nest Tess decides to relocate to the lively town of Northstone for a fresh start. Tess is keen to start enjoying living alone again after always having to put others first and is looking forward to some much earned me time. Little does she know that her family and new found friends have other ideas.
Tess is feeling very apprehensive at first about being alone, but it isn't long before she meets her new neighbour Jinni, who is refurbishing the house next door and aiming to turn it into a boutique B & B. This is much to the annoyance of Ingrid who isn't happy about the proposed new business, especially when it concerns DFLs (Down from Londoners) who she believes are taking over the town.
It isn't long after Tess has moved into her new home that her family start dropping by and they all seem very keen to stay and bring all their dramas along with them. They become even more keen to hang around once they hear about all the suspicious activities that have been happening to Jinni and her home as somebody is very keen to try and put Jinni off from staying there.
with the help of her new friend Malcom, a local journalist Tess is keen to try and get to the bottom of the mysterious goings on and is soon surrounded by drama including her mothers illness. Will they ever get to the bottom of whats going on?
This is the first book I have read by this author. I was really drawn into it by the blurb and I wasn't disappointed! I really enjoyed reading this book. It is written in a very realistic way and you can really feel yourself being drawn into each of the family members dramas and believe me there are plenty of those and some of them will have you laughing out loud! this is a great summer read to be accompanied by a glass two of wine in the sunshine and a great read to recommend to your friends.
This book is published by HarperImpulse.
