Dating Down by Diane Louise

Dating Down by Diane Louise
suddenly single and unexpectedly poor, it's definitely safe to say that Alexis Harland is not living the life of her dreams.
Although she's determined that nothing, not one thing, will stop her return from poverty. Well, almost nothing. Her pride might get in the way a little. and possibly her family. And maybe theft that she hasn't got a clue where to start.
Many years ago, Alexis was swept away from life on a caravan park and introduced to a world of riches and glamour. All thanks to a wealthy man who married her, reinvented her... and then dumped her for a younger model at the first sign cellulite.
Now Alexis is stranded, struggling to keep her head above water and her history a secret from her highbrow friends.
As if that isn't enough for a women to deal with, one night she comes home to find a sexy man has landed, quite literally, on her doorstep. A man hell-bent on testing everything Alexis thinks she knows about true happiness.
Caught between the life she knows and her blossoming love, can Alexis afford to let go of her unwavering pride, kiss her social status goodbye and accept that stepping back to square one is sometimes a huge leap forward?

My Review
This fantastic novel from Diane Louise is brilliant and really had me laughing out loud! The idea of dating someone from a lower class horrifies Alexis. She especially doesn't want her posh and snotty friends to find out that she has no money left after her husbands betrayal. What she fears the most is being ostracised by her so called friends and the lifestyle that they all share.  As the story unfolds you get a great insight as to why Alexis is so keen to hold onto the life she has at all costs. Its great to see her life start to change around the more she sees of Bob and she starts to realise that maybe there is more to life than money. There is great chemistry between Alexis and Bob and its written in a way that is not rushed and leaves you with a great will they won't they all the way through. I really enjoyed reading this and I am looking forward to reading future books by Diane Louise.

Author Bio
Diane Louise is a dairy farmer's wife from the UK who doesn't know a Holstein from a Hereford.
But what she does know is how to write a funny story. Three years ago she tried to write a steamy romance and sucked at it. Honestly, her stiff upper lip made her heroes more wet blankets than wet dreams. With a steely determination to avoid milking the cows, she turned her hand to Romantic Comedy and a star was born. Well in her mind at least.
Fancy getting to know the women behind the words?

She hangs around Facebook daily, desperate to avoid housework, and loves nothing more than chatting to fellow lovers of Romantic Comedy over at Di's Romantic Comedy Club. Or, if you don't do Facebook, thats cool, because she also sends a monthly email to her readers, making sure they never miss a new release and sharing behind the scene info about her books.

An Unconventional Affair by Mollie Blake

An Unconventional Affair
by
Mollie Blake

So today it is my turn on the blog tour of this amazing novel by Mollie Blake read on for my review. Hope you enjoy reading it.

Tranquility "Tee" Hammond is head of a law firm. Having escaped a violent husband, with a son she was really too young to have had,  her life revolved around her work. There was little time for anything else and she didn't need anything else. When she was inclined to treat herself to a little sexual pleasure, she engaged the services of Email Indulgence - an exclusive club - one email for one night of sex with a man she didn't know and didn't need to care about again. For her, it was enough. But her life was about be changed by a friend of her Tee's son at university, Barrington Stone, fifteen years her junior who is determined to woo her into an unconventional affair.

this is a great read from start to finish. It has a good balance within the book of all the elements from, love, to sex, to suspense.
the book has two very stong and well written characters. (They both also have fab names too!) Tee who feels that she should know better than to start a relationship with someone who is so much younger  than her, never mind someone thats a friend of her son. Barrington who knows that she should be forbidden as her friends mum, however they are both drawn to each other in such a compelling way that they both start to feel that maybe it shouldn't be forbidden after all. The chemistry that is created between them both is spectacular and I was soon drawn in to the will they won't they for their relationship. The suspense that is added to the book really gets you on the edge of your seat especially with the behaviour of one of her email dates turning very sinister.
Overall I would thoroughly recommend this book if you like a bit of some erotic reading with a good story line.

A Recipe for Disaster by Belinda Missen

So today it is my turn on this amazing blog tour for A Recipe for Disaster by Belinda Missen.

Meet Lucy, master wedding cake baker, idealistic school canteen crusader, and someone whose broken heart just wont seem to mend...
Lucy is quietly confident that she has made the right choices in life. Surrounded by friends and family in a small country town, Lucy can easily suppress the feeling that something is missing from her life.
But when a blast from the pst arrives in the form of her estranged husband, International celebrity chef Oliver Murray, Lucy's carefully constructed life begins to crumble beneath herblike overbaked meringue.
Is Oliver's return all business or is it motivated by something more?
A Recipe for Disaster starts long after most love stories would have ended, proving it is never too late  to offer someone a second slice of cake or a second chance.

A reader from an early age, Belinda began writing her own stories shortly after her love affair with Steven Spielberg's film Jurassic Park began. What began as fan-fiction soon took deeper root, and she was scribbling out strange little stories in empty notebooks she found laying around the house.

In February 2017 her book Love and Other Midnight Theories clawed its way to the top of the Amazon charts in its category of Performing Arts, beating JK Rowling's Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. True story - she has the screenshots to prove it.

My review
(warning, this book is best served with a slice of cake!)
Wow what a great read I was hooked from the first page. This is a very enjoyable read that will have you giggling at times. This book talks about marriage in a very modern way and about sometimes as an adult you have to make your own sacrifices to let those around you succeed.
Lucy is a fantastic wedding cake designer and baking in her part time, and works in a school canteen as her main job. Lucy seems happy with her life and feels like she is putting the heartbreak she felt in the past behind her, That is until the man responsible for her heartache, Oliver, returns to the town they both lived in and is setting up a new business and offers Lucy the job of her dreams, but it means putting the past behind her and working with Oliver. Can they both get past the history they share or will it break their relationship forever?
To start with Lucy seems to be quite a mild character that is just getting over Oliver, however once he becomes around more in her life Lucy becomes stronger and more confident in tackling whatever life throws at her and maybe begin to learn to trust Oliver again, and even fall in love with him again too.
It took me while to warm to Oliver as I was very much team Lucy, however my view began to change as I read through the book. Both of the characters are very well written and you feel really drawn in to the will they won't they relationship which will keep you guessing right up the the end.
This is a fantastic debut novel from Belinda Messin and I am really looking forward to what she comes up with next.

Sweatpants At Tiffanie's by Pernille Hughes

Sweatpants At Tiffanie's
by
Pernille Hughes

Tiffanie Trent is having a nightmare week. After being dumped by her boyfriend on their ten year anniversary when she thought he was going to propose, leaving her heartbroken and also homeless. She is then at work at Blackie's boxing gym, where she has been a book keeper for many years, when the owner, Frank Black drops dead in the office they share! Tiffanie is left to organise the funeral for Frank, and its there that she bumps in Mike "The Assassin" Fellner her first love who broke her heart when he left town many years ago. Can Tiffanie not get some good luck?
Its at the reading of the will the next day that Tiffanie is shocked to find out that Frank has left her Blackie's! Tiffanie is really confused to start with why Frank has left her the gym, especially when she is coming across some complaints from members of the training team saying she is a woman and not up to the job! This makes Tiffanie more and more determined to make changes at Blackie's and put her stamp on the place but all of this comes at a price. But with her friends, old, and mew by her side, and her growing confidence she is soon making changes and making the place her own.
But somebody out there really doesn't want Tiffanie to succeed and will do anything to get her out of Blackie's. Luckily she has people on her side determined to fight for her and her knight in shining armour Mike Fellner.
Will Tiffanie's open for business and will Mike help heal Tiffanie's broken heart?

I really enjoyed reading this book and I did find myself laughing out loud at times. I found it very well written and it has a very strong storyline that works all the way through. I liked the fighting spirit that Tiffanie found along the way and how she became less of a doormat. I enjoyed learning about her past relationship with Mike and how that changes as the story progresses.
I would really recommend this debut novel Pernille Hughes and I'm looking forward to see what comes next from her.

Available now on ebook format from Amazon
paperback release date is 18th October 2018.
