Barefoot on the Beach by Katlyn Duncan

Today is my stop on the Blog tour for this wonderful, heartwarming and romantic new release from Katlyn Duncan. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
Renee Clarke is perfectly happy just the way she is…

Renee may be thrilled to be planning her sister’s wedding, but after witnessing her mother’s two failed marriages, she has always vowed that she is better off on her own.

But when Renee discovers that Luc Hardy has moved next door, her world is knocked off kilter. Luc was her whirlwind summer romance as a teen and, more importantly, her first love. Now he’s back in West Cove, looking more handsome than ever.

There is no escaping the romance in the air this summer. With the wedding planning in full swing, Renee begins to believe that she might be able to put her childhood reservations about marriage aside.

Yet when her mother arrives, she stirs a torrent of emotions in Renee’s heart. She’s up to her old tricks again – boasting about her latest conquests – reaffirming Renee’s lack of faith in love.

As Renee’s happily-ever-after hangs in the balance, will Luc be able to convince her that true love can last forever?

My Review
This is a heartwarming and romantic read that I thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end.
Renee is delighted to have been asked to help her beloved sister plan her wedding. even if she has been given the details at the last minute.
Renee is looking forward to spending some quality time with her sister and being able to relax for a while.
What Renee had not planned on was running into Luc. He is staying as his aunts house, next door to Renee while he does some renovation work to the property.
Luc was the boy who swept her off her feet with a summer romance when they were teens, and the boy that Renee never forgot. He still seems to have an effect on her now too.
Renee is working hard on the wedding plans for her sister along side her normal job too, but thoughts of Luc are in her head and as she does start to see more of him, and romance blossoms between the two of them she realises there could be more things to life than work.
Things are going well for Renee, that is until her mother returns to West Cove for the wedding and stirs up some trouble making Renee doubt her chance of love with Luc especially with her views on marriage.
Will Renee find her happy ending with Luc or is she destined to be alone.
I loved this book from the first page to the last, and I could not put it down.
Renee is a wonderful and complex character to get to know. It is clear that she has issues with relationships after what has happened in her past, and you do understand why she is reluctant to let people in.
The character of Luc sounds so handsome and the perfect match for Renee being as they both have never forgotten the summer that they shared.
The setting of this book, right on the beach sounds just beautiful. The writing style makes you feel as though you could be right there on the beach in the sunshine with Renee and her family instead of being at home on a grey afternoon.
This book is the perfect antidote at this challenging time. Bringing you some much needed sunshine.
