My Review
I was really looking forward to reading this book and I was not disappointed, as I was absorbed from the first page to the last and could not put it down.
Emily Prescott has big plans for her life. She wants to open up her own bakery and she wants to settle down with her boyfriend, Greg. Things are not going the way she planned though, so when surprise invitation to to a wedding comes through the post Emily is really excited. It is the wedding of her oldest friend, Beth and even more exciting for Emily is that Beth wants her to be a bridesmaid and also bake the wedding cake. Emily is so pleased, this could be the break she needs to get her life in order.
Emily cannot wait to head back to her childhood home in Scotland but is in for a shock before she goes as she finds out that Greg has been cheating on her. Emily is heartbroken and decides to head up to Scotland earlier than planned to escape the hurt he has caused her.
Emily throw herself into life in the grand estate in the Highlands and is enjoying helping Beth with the wedding plans. The only issue she is having is that Greg will not leave her alone and is constantly harassing her to take him back. Emily has met a new man in Scotland, the young and handsome Brodie who is the Vicar for Glendale and the two of them begin to get to know each other. Further shock is in store for Emily though when she sees just how much she has been betrayed by Greg. This brings up some big decisions for Emily but what will she decide.
I loved this well written and heartwarming read from start to finish and it is perfect for some escapism.
Emily is a great character to read about. She is incredibly kind and always puts others before herself. I really enjoyed getting to know her and see her become stronger.
The writing style of this book is fantastic. It is full of a range of emotions and will keep you absorbed from the very beginning.
This is the second book in the series however I do believe it can be read as a standalone read as it focuses on the story of Emily but does include characters from the first book.
This is a wonderful read and I am already looking forward to what could be next in the series.
