Louis & Louise by Julie Cohen

Louis & Louise
by
Julie Cohen
Today I am really excited to be on the blog tour for this compelling and addictive read from Julie Cohen, and published by Orion Fiction who I would like to thank for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I would like to thank Tracy Fenton for inviting me to take part in the tour.
I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
One life, Lived twice.
Louis and Louise are the same person born in two different lives. They are separated only by the sex announced by the doctor and a final 'e'.
They have the same best friends, the same red hair, the same dream of being a writer, the same excellent whistle. They both suffer one catastrophic night, with life-changing consequences.
Thirteen years later, they are both coming home.

My review
this is a brilliant and addictive read that I read in one afternoon after not being able to put it down.
This book is made up of the two stories of Louis Alder and Louise Alder that are perfectly entwined into one story.  It is one that tells the story of two lives that are changed completely after an incident that happens when they are both eighteen that will change their lives forever and see them both leave Cassablanca, the town they call home. It is only after receiving the devastating news of their mothers cancer that they both head home again will they be able to put the past behind them once and for all. Really enjoyed getting to know both of the main characters as they grew up and you really feel like you are part of their history too as their surroundings are so well described too. I enjoyed learning about the different experiences they both had due to their gender. you also learnt how each other bonded with those around them and how it was very different for both of them growing up. It was also very interesting reading about the lives of their parents, how their experiences of being parents and lives were different from others around them and also it brought up the idea of the differences in classes and backgrounds back in the 1970s and 1980s.
When they both head back to their hometown of Casablanca you get a good insight into how their lives have progressed and changed as a result of what happened to them both on prom night and the decisions they made with their lives after that.
When they both headed back home to Casablanca you get to see how the lives of those left behind have changed and how the relationships for them all have changed. They both meet up with their childhood best friends, Twins, Allie and Benny, who also had struggles in their lives whilst growing up after the dramas that happened during the 1980s in the town. You see how their lives were affected by the events on that same night.
The writing by Julie Cohen is this book is fantastic and so very descriptive. I think the idea of this book is brilliant and one that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it.

This book is available from 24th January 2019 in Hardback and ebook.

The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May

The Cocktail Bar
by
Isabella May

Today I am pleased to be part of the birthday blitz for this brilliant read from Isabella May. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar... and the locals aren’t impressed.
Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.
But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.
Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one.

My Review
This is the second release from Isabella May and is another fantastic read.
Set in the town of Glastonbury, Ex Rock band member, River has decided to leave his place in the spotlight and return to his roots in Glastonbury. He's splitting his time between his childhood home and a local hotel, while he is taking over the local pub and is turning it into a cocktail bar. He intends to serve a selection of recipes he has found from travelling the world with the band.
Things are not going to plan for River though. He has a Mum who is a crystal loving hippy, he has a girl who has plans to put into place, an ex girlfriend back on the scene, a band manager who is after River and a band of locals who want to see River fail.
River is sure he will succeed as he may have a secret weapon. It's a mystery elixir that he was given during his travels in Mexico and it is believed to have magical powers. He was told, and believes that the liquid will change the lives of three people but its not up to him to chose the people, its fate that will step in.
This is a brilliant read that really draws you in from the first page to the last. I really enjoy the reading Isabella's style of writing. it is so fresh and descriptive. You will find yourselves really getting to know the characters as you are also provided with a good back story that gives you a good insight into their lives.
I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading others by Isabella May.

The Little Cafe at the End of The Pier by Helen Rolfe

The Little Cafe at the End of the Pier
by
Helen Rolfe

Today I am reviewing this brilliant read from Helen Rolfe. Thank you to Netgalley for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Book Description
Searching for love? You'll find it at The Little Café at the End of the Pier...

The Little Café at the End of the Pier is the Café at the End of the Pier novellas collected together for the first time.
When Jo's beloved grandparents ask for her help in running their little café at the end of the pier in Salthaven-on-Sea she jumps at the chance.
The café is a hub for many people: the single dad who brings his little boy in on a Saturday morning; the lady who sits alone and stares out to sea; the woman who pops in after her morning run.
Jo soon realises that each of her customers is looking for love - and she knows just the way to find it for them. She goes about setting each of them up on blind dates - each date is held in the café, with a special menu she has designed for the occasion.
But Jo has never found love herself. She always held her grandparents' marriage up as her ideal and she hasn't found anything close to that. But could it be that love is right under her nose...?

My Review
This is a fantastic read that spans a year in the life of Jo and her life as she takes on the responsibility of taking over the running of The Little Cafe at the end of the Pier from her grandparents, Molly and Arthur. They are both finding the pace of life and running the cafe is starting to take its toll and they are both keen on taking a back seat with the cafe and maybe even retiring. To start with Jo is finding it all a big challenge and she doesn't feel that maybe she is up to it, especially after speaking to her mother, Sasha who is now estranged from her parents after an incident that happened in the past. Sasha is telling Jo that she doesn't have to do whether grandparents are asking of her. Thankfully Jo is keen to make up her own mind and is soon running the cafe and really making good relationships with those who visit and hep with the day to day running of it.
It isn't long before Jo is keen to put her own mark on the cafe and she sets up a Valentines evening, unfortunately the weather has other ideas and it doesn't go to plan. This does not deter Jo and instead she starts match making with her friends and visitors to the cafe and this does work out better for her. I loved reading about Jo and the adventures she has in the seasons that follow her taking cover the cafe. You see her build relationships with many other residents that live in the town of Salthaven-On-Sea.
I really enjoyed the style of writing that Helen has and I thought the way she was able to describe everything, from the different types of weather they experienced to the yummy food on offer was brilliant.
I enjoyed reading this book from start to finish and I'm looking forward to see what Helen writes next.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book is due to published 24th January 2019 and is available from amazon.

An Unconditional Affair Part 2 by Mollie Blake

An Unconditional Affair Part 2
by
Mollie Blake

I am so excited to be part of the blog tour for this much anticipated sequel to An Unconditional Affair part 1. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and for giving me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
This second part of An Unconventional Affair finds Barrington Stone working in Australia for a year. Tranquility “Tee” Hammond, fifteen years his senior, has ended their affair, but for Barrington it was never over. He can’t wait for the year to pass to go back to her. However, after a drunken encounter, with a woman he later discovers is a sex worker, his life is changed forever. How can he possibly leave Australia, now that he has a daughter?
After accepting that Barrington won’t be coming back to the UK, Tee rekindles her relationship with the charming-yet-unconventional Sebastian Chandler, owner of a motorsports racetrack. Although living with Sebastian is “complicated” and life for the couple isn’t perfect, they are settled and Tee is happy.
But everything changes when Barrington returns. Tee’s heart is in turmoil, and Sebastian is afraid he will lose the woman he loves. As the plot thickens and twists unravel, Barrington must decide if there is one risk worth sharing.

My Review
I was really looking forward to the second instalment of this story and I was not disappointed!
This book starts off with a quick catchup on the previous book so you can remember how it ended and then you get started in the story.
This book is set over the 10 years after Barrington leaves for Australia for a one year placement leaving a broken hearted Tee behind. Unfortunately as you read on in the book you realise that the one year plan soon starts to go wrong for Barrington and the year plan is soon changing. Luckily he has his good friend Lachlan who is there to help him through the difficult time ahead.
Tee is coming to term with the fact that Barrington and her are no longer together and she soon finds support and a shoulder to cry on in the form of her good friend Sebastian. It is not long before Tee moves in with Sebastian and they are both happy with the set up they have.
Over the 10 years that Barrington is in Australia he works hard to make a success of his career so he can make the best life he can for his daughter and this all becomes a lot harder after a chain of events sees him moving back to the UK with her.
Once back in the UK he bumps into Tee and it's easy to see that the spark of attraction is still there, will they both act on it or will they stay apart forever.
This book is full of twist, turns, mysteries, romance and of course sex, and its really hard to write a review without spoiling the plot line for everyone! Believe me there are so many surprises within the book that will really open up your eyes to a different world.
I loved this book from start to finish and I couldn't put it down. Mollie's writing has a habit of drawing you in and keeping you hooked there until the last page.
I cannot wait to see what Mollie brings us next.

Something To Tell You by Lucy Diamond

Something To Tell You
by
Lucy Diamond

Today is publication day for this amazing read from Lucy Diamond. Thank you to Netgalley for my copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly.  I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
When Frankie stumbles upon an unopened letter from her late mother, she’s delighted to have one last message from her . . . until she reads the contents and discovers the truth about her birth. Brimming with questions, she travels to York to seek further answers from the Mortimer family, but her appearance sends shockwaves through them all.
Meanwhile, Robyn Mortimer has problems of her own. Her husband John has become distant, and a chance remark from a friend leads Robyn to wonder exactly what he’s not been saying. Dare she find out more?
As for Bunny, she fell head over heels in love with Dave Mortimer when she first arrived in town, but now it seems her past is catching up with her. She can’t help wondering if he’ll still feel the same way about her if he discovers who she really is – and what she did.
As secrets tumble out and loyalties are tested, the Mortimers have to face up to some difficult decisions. With love, betrayal and dramatic revelations in the mix, this is one summer they’ll never forget.

My Review
Lucy Diamond has done it again. What a fantastic read. This book will have you absorbed from the first page to the last.
This book explores family and the relationships within that. The book is based on the Mortimer family and revolves around the lives of the women within the family.
Frankie has never met her father, however after the death of her mother she finds a letter and it contains the details of who her father is. Frankie is really keen to meet him ad find out more about him. Frankie sets out to meet him, unfortunately she doesn't pick the best time as her father,  Harry, and his wife Jeannie are celebrating their Wedding Anniversary. This causes a lot of upset and Jeannie ends up running away from the family.
The upset from all of this affects the whole family and they are shocked to find out what their Dad has been up to.
The weight of this issues weighs heavily on all of the siblings especially when they all have problems of their own to be dealing too.
Robyn is convinced that her husband John is hiding from her. does she want to know what's going on or, bury her head in the sand for the sake of her family.
Bunny has a massive secret that she is keeping from everyone and is convinced that if her new family find out her secret she will be left all on her own.
Alison is desperate to make a change to her life she feels all she does it watch television and go to work. maybe the internet could be just the answer to what she is looking for.
This book is filled with  drama, heartache, conflicts and secrets. It is also filled with love too and hope. all of the things that most families have within them and I loved how they were all able to deal with everything that as thrown at them.
This book is so well written and makes you aware of just how different all of our families are, and you will find all of the characters so relatable to those around you.
To summarise I really loved this book. I liked the variety of different characters and I liked how all of their lives were intertwined and I loved getting to know the family.
I would like to thank Netgalley for my copy of this book which I have reviewed voluntarily.

This book is available from 24th January 2019 and is available from Amazon.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog and I hop you enjoyed my review.

At the End of Summer by June Moonbridge

At the End of Summer
by
June Moonbridge

today I am so excited to be bringing you my review for this fantastic read from June Moonbridge. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part in the blog tour. I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Joshua’s life as a rock guitarist seems like a dream come true. Sold out concerts, red carpet events and wild nights portray him as a confident young man with the world at his feet. Only few friends know the scars he carries.
When freelance photographer Caroline meets the rock band Burning Ruins at the after party, an irresistible chemistry of attraction between her and the sexy rock guitarist is clearly seen to everybody. However, after a forced conversation from Joshua’s side, Caroline's convinced the attraction is not mutual.
Waking up the next morning, Caroline has no idea what happened. She flees out of the hotel room mortified, convinced she’d become another of the band’s trophies. Determined never to meet anyone from Burning Ruins ever again, she has no clue people around her have different ideas.
In a summer that takes them from London to Wales and to the sultry heat of Rome, they’re desperately fighting their demons from the past, while trying to protect their broken hearts. Will they ever let each other mend their broken hearts or will they try to heal them alone?

My Review
Photographer Caroline is shocked when she wakes up in a bedroom that isn't hers and can hear someone singing in the bathroom. She has no idea what happened the previous night and she is shocked to find out that the voice belongs to Hale the lead singer from the Burning Ruin. Not wanting to become another one of their groupies Caroline runs away ashamed of herself.
Caroline tells her best friend Julia what happened and, as she is friends with the band she heads out to have it out with them. When she finds out what happened and that none of the band did anything wrong, it was just band member Joshua that was trying to look after Caroline.
It isn't long before sparks start to fly between Caroline and Joshua, and when Caroline is given he opportunity to head to Rome to further her photographic career its Joshua that offers to travel there with her.
What follows is a summer of fun, adventure and also  heartache for both Joshua and Caroline as they travel between Rome, London and Wales and get to know each other better and maybe fall in love.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I really enjoyed the descriptive way that June described the Cities that were present in the book. The character of Caroline is at first self conscious and isn't keen to let anyone into her life or share anything about her life with anybody else. This is until she starts to share more of her time with Joshua and she starts to open up. I think Caroline is like this as she is doing her best to protect herself from what happened in her past. Joshua is also trying to keep his past well hidden and its only once he gets to know Caroline that he starts to open up too.
This book is a full of fun, love and heartbreak and I found I couldn't put it down as it kept me guessing right up to the end if it was going to be a happy ending or not.
This was the first book I have read from June Moonbridge and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

The Manor on the Moors by Liz Taylorson

The Manor on the Moors
by
Liz Taylorson

Today I am so excited to be sharing my review of this brilliant read from Liz Taylorson as part of her blog tour.
Thank you so much to Tracy Fenton for inviting me to take part. I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description

Alice has landed her dream job, searching the Misterley Manor archives for tales of the elusive Gilbert Fox-Travers - life should be perfect, if only she could untangle her complicated love life...

Caroline is desperately trying to keep Misterley from falling down around her ears, and it’s a tough enough job without throwing a stroppy teenager, a difficult ex-husband and a cantankerous father into the mix.
When disaster strikes, Caroline and her family must pull together to save her beloved family home...Can Alice uncover the mystery of Gilbert Fox-Travers in time to save the Manor?

My Review
This is an absolutely brilliant read that is full of twists and turns and I loved it from the first page to the last.
Alice is studying a PHD on the mysteries surround the illusive Gilbert Fox-Travers and his life within Misterley Manor. Not everyone is happy that she is in the Manor studying especially her boyfriend Sebastian who is begging her to go back home and become his dutiful wife. This is something that doesn't appeal to Alice however she feels in debt to him and isn't sure what to do the for the best. Alice is really lacking in confidence from her relationship with Sebastian and this is having a huge impact on her life.
Caroline is finding it hard to juggle all the aspects of her life, she's got a teenage daughter, Emily who she feels is going off the rails, she has an ex-husband she feels is trying to outdo her as a parent, and then she is looking after her father who is proving to get more and more difficult as the days go by. On top of all the Caroline is desperate to make a success of Misterley Manor and return the house to its former glory so her daughter has a legacy. It feels like its all a balancing act that could all fall down at any time and this is making Caroline miserable so she takes it out on those closest to her.
It isn't long before a relationship of sorts forms between the two women and they realise that they may need each others help after all especially after disaster strikes the Manor. can they all pull together, solve the mystery and save the Manor before it is too late?
I really like both of the female characters in this book. It is amazing to read about Alice grow and develop her self confidence and she grows in strength as she becomes more intwined with the Mysteries surrounding the Manor. Caroline is a great character to read about first I found her too hard and quick to judge those around her, but its great to see her relax as the book goes along and become less uptight and let more people into her life too.
There is a range of support characters within the book that also add a lot to the story. There is Duncan, Caroline's ex husband and father to Emily Carolines daughter. he is around at times to pick up Emily and the seems to really annoy Caroline and her rather cranky father. There is also the rather dotty Majorie who is always popping up around the Manor and she has some very interesting stories to tell. There is also the gorgeous head gardener Tom with whom Alice has a will they won't they relationship with that'll keep you guessing all the way through.
I really like the style of writing by Liz Taylorson, she has a way of describing the scene as if you could be there too, and this really draws you into the book and keep you there as you try and guess what will happen next right up to the last page.
I really enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to see what Liz brings us next.

About the Author

Liz has always surrounded herself with books. As a child, she was always to be found with her head in one and she still has a bookcase full of her childhood favourites to this day. (As a thirteen-year-old she read The Lord of the Rings twelve times in a row, cover to cover!) All this reading led, unsurprisingly, to a degree in English Literature, (and another book-case full of books) and then a job as a cataloguer of early printed books for a major university library. This meant spending hours sitting in a beautiful, ancient building looking at antique leather-bound tomes – although as so many of them turned out to be rather boring volumes of sermons she wasn’t tempted to read them! She went on to train others to catalogue books and her earliest attempts at writing anything as an adult consisted of instructions on how to work out the correct form of an author’s name to use in a library catalogue.
Children (and then cats and chickens) interrupted her bibliographic career, and having given up library work Liz found herself doing more reading, and increasingly she found herself enjoying novels by writers like Trisha Ashley, Katie Fforde, Milly Johnson and Lucy Diamond. Inspired by their example, she started writing fiction and hasn’t stopped since, joining the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s wonderful New Writers’ Scheme to try to learn how to write novels properly in 2015. She has also attempted writing some short stories, with one The Second Princess winning a competition in Writing Magazine which led her to think that maybe publication wasn’t a pipe dream after all.

Liz owes everything to her tolerant and long-suffering husband Ben and her tolerant and long-suffering children, but very little to the cats who are neither tolerant nor long-suffering and keep sitting on the computer keyboard and messing up her manuscript if she forgets to feed them on time.
When not reading or writing Liz is often to be found on stage (or behind it) with her local amateur dramatic society, drinking tea, or visiting one of the several North Yorkshire seaside villages which were the inspiration for the fictional Rawscar, the setting for her debut novel The Little Church by the Sea.

Perfect Match by Zoe May

Perfect Match
by
Zoe May

Today I am on the blog tour for this brilliant romcom from Zoe May. I want to say thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Can you ever find true love online?
Sophia Jones is an expert in all things online dating: the best sites, how to write a decent bio, which questions to ask and the right type of photos to use. The only thing she’s not so great at? Picking the guys...
After sitting through yet another dreadful date with a man who isn’t quite what she expected, Sophia is just about ready to give up on the whole dating scene. But her flatmate, Kate, persuades her to give it one more chance, only this time she must create a profile describing her ‘perfect’ man.
Yes, he must look like Robert Pattinson and needs to own a multi-million pound business, but there are a couple of other deal breakers, too! So, when a guy comes along who ticks every box, surely there’s got to be a catch?
A laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Catherine Bennetto and Rosie Blake!

My Review
This is a fantastic Romcom that really did have me laughing out loud. Sophia is on her latest disastrous date she has found on a dating website and has decided that this will be the last one. She goes home and tells her friend and flatmate, Kate, of the latest bad date and declares to never ever pick a date from an online site. Kate then persuades Sophia to have one last try and post about her perfect man and see if he really does exist. With her perfect man described they post it online and wait to see what happens. It isn't long before replies to Sophia's profile start flooding in and most of them are people just looking for some fun and none of them are who suitable. That is until a Robert Pattison lookalike pops up and sends her a message. Once they begin to chat Sophia finds out so much more about Daniel and the lifestyle he has not to mention that he is a multi millionaire business man! Sophia is really into Daniel and he seems to be into her but is it all just too good to be true?
This is a well written book that has a very natural flow that will really draw you in and keep you hooked until the last page. There is a varied cast of characters within the story who all have their part in Sophia's live and who all have their own stories too which helps build the story. I think the character of Sophia is a very strong one. She knows what she wants in a man and isn't happy to settle for anything less, if he isn't perfect then she doesn't want to know. As the book progresses Sophia starts to realise that maybe love has a way of creeping up on you when you least expect it.
I loved the book from start to finish and it really did make me giggle. This is the first book have read from Zoe May but it certainly will not be the last.
