The Cocktail Bar by Isabella May

The Cocktail Bar
by
Isabella May

Today I am pleased to be part of the birthday blitz for this brilliant read from Isabella May. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part and I hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar... and the locals aren’t impressed.
Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.
But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.
Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one.

My Review
This is the second release from Isabella May and is another fantastic read.
Set in the town of Glastonbury, Ex Rock band member, River has decided to leave his place in the spotlight and return to his roots in Glastonbury. He's splitting his time between his childhood home and a local hotel, while he is taking over the local pub and is turning it into a cocktail bar. He intends to serve a selection of recipes he has found from travelling the world with the band.
Things are not going to plan for River though. He has a Mum who is a crystal loving hippy, he has a girl who has plans to put into place, an ex girlfriend back on the scene, a band manager who is after River and a band of locals who want to see River fail.
River is sure he will succeed as he may have a secret weapon. It's a mystery elixir that he was given during his travels in Mexico and it is believed to have magical powers. He was told, and believes that the liquid will change the lives of three people but its not up to him to chose the people, its fate that will step in.
This is a brilliant read that really draws you in from the first page to the last. I really enjoy the reading Isabella's style of writing. it is so fresh and descriptive. You will find yourselves really getting to know the characters as you are also provided with a good back story that gives you a good insight into their lives.
I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading others by Isabella May.
