A Typical Family Christmas by Liz Davies

Today it s my turn on the Blog Tour for this brilliant, fun festive read from Liz Davies. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
For once, Kate Peters would like a happy, family Christmas; the kind of Christmas seen in the movies. She wants harmony and happiness, smiling, glowing faces, tables groaning with food, carol singing around the tree. She wants love, kindness, and goodwill to all men, especially in

her own house.

What she doesn’t want is drama. Absolutely no drama, whatsoever.

But what she gets is three stroppy children, two equally stroppy grandmothers, a husband who can’t manage to change a lightbulb, and Pepe the poodle.

It’s no wonder she feels unappreciated, overworked, and ignored. At the end of her tinsel-coated tether, and with the only Christmas spirit being in the form of a bottle of raspberry gin, Kate decides to leave them to it, and see how they manage without her.

A quiet little hotel somewhere near the sea, where she can pretend Christmas doesn’t exist, is just the thing she needs. Isn’t it?

My Review
This is such a brilliant and fun read that is perfect for the festive season.
Kate Peters really loves the festive season and always tries her best to give her family a fantastic time every year. All she wants is for everyone to be happy and for their Christmas to be like the ones she sees in films and on Instagram, and with no drama at all.
What Kate actually gets is two quarrelling mums, three grumpy and selfish teenagers, and a husband who would rather be at work than at home. Throw in a badly behaved Poodle to the mix and Kate is feeling rather fed up.
All of the Christmas preparations have been left to Kate and she's having to referee all of the arguments that are happening at home. She's really feeling under appreciated, unloved and very overworked. The final straw comes when she overhears a conversation between her mum and mother in law. Kate makes a major decision that will affect her family Christmas. Maybe now they will begin to see how much she really does for them all.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas treat from start to finish. The story flowed well and I found it highly addictive. I really enjoyed getting to know Kate and I completely understand why she is feeling the way she is. I also understand why she makes the decision that she does. I liked getting to know all of the other characters and the arguments between the two mums are very entertaining.
This is the perfect festive read, one we can all relate too and one you will not be disappointed that you purchased.

About the Author

Liz Davies writes feel-good, light-hearted stories with a hefty dose of romance, a smattering of humour, and a great deal of love.
She’s married to her best friend, has one grown-up daughter, and when she isn’t scribbling away in the notepad she carries with her everywhere (just in case inspiration strikes), you’ll find her searching for that perfect pair of shoes. She loves to cook but isn’t very good at it, and loves to eat - she’s much better at that! Liz also enjoys walking (preferably on the flat), cycling (also on the flat), and lots of sitting around in the garden on warm, sunny days.
She currently lives with her family in Wales, but would ideally love to buy a camper van and travel the world in it.
