Our Review
This is a brilliant and fascinating read for children of all ages. The layout of all the pages is done in such a great way as it doesn't overload the children with too much information. It gives them just the right amount to spark their interest and then even goes on to ask them questions about how they can relate this to their own lives and the knowledge they may already have. The pages are bright and colourful and will keep even younger children interested.
My Daughter and I have been reading this together before bed and I have found she could easily read it by herself and was very reluctant to put it down each night. This book seemed to really draw her in and she loved learning new facts, her favourite fact she found out was that Bugs can dance!
A great addition to the book is the educational material for teachers and educators at the back of the book, which would make this a great addition to any classroom.

Love Punked by Nia Lucas

Love Punked
by
Nia Lucas

So for my second blog post of the day I am on the blog tour for this brilliant read from Nia Lucas. Thank you to Rachels Random Resources for inviting me to take part in this tour. happy reading.

Book Description
When her life is irrevocably altered by a post-Rave tryst on her mother's floral patio recliner, Erin
Roberts’ long-standing relationship with Humiliation takes her down a path that's not so much 'less
well trodden', more 'perilous descent down sheer cliffs'.
Armed with a fierce devotion to her best friend and the unrequited love for the boy she might have
accidentally married at age seven, when Erin falls pregnant at sixteen, life veers off at a most
unexpected tangent.
Her journey to adulthood is far from ordinary as Erin learns that protecting the hearts of those most
precious to you isn't balm enough when your Love Punked heart is as sore as your freshly tattooed
arse.Whilst raising football prodigies and trying not to get stuck in lifts with Social Work clients who hateher, Erin discovers that sometimes you have to circumnavigate the globe to find the very thing that was there all along.

My Review
This is a brilliant read that really drew me in after the first few pages and very quickly became very addictive. I loved all the characters in this book and it was great that there were not to many of them involved in the story. My heart really went out to Erin as she was growing up because all she wanted to do was be accepted by her friends and peers and this all backfired on her when she fell pregnant after a one night stand with an unknown drug dealer who never called. This book is funny at times and most of us will identify some of the mistakes made by Erin in her teens! This story is the life that Erin makes for herself after all that has happened to her along the way. There are times that will have you reaching for the tissues as things get really emotional but this is all balanced well with the laughs you encounter as you read Erins story. I think Nia Lucas has a very insightful way of writing and the amount of experience she has of these issues in this read is evident in this.
I loved this book and i'm looking forward to more from Nia Lucas.

A Ration Book Christmas by Jean Fullerton

A Ration Book Christmas
by
Jean Fullerton

Today I am on the blog tour for this brilliant, heart warming and historic read from Jean Fullerton.
Thank you to Rachels Random Resources fro inviting me to take part. I hope you enjoy reading my review.

Book Description
With Christmas approaching, the Brogan family of London's East End are braving the horrors of the Blitz. With the men away fighting for King and Country and the ever-present dangers of the German Luftwaffe's nightly reign of death and destruction, the family must do all they can to keep a stiff upper lip.
For Jo, the youngest of the Brogan sisters, the perils of war also offer a new-found freedom. Jo falls in love with Tommy, a man known for his dangerous reputation as much as his charm. But as the falling bombs devastate their neighbourhood and rationing begins to bite, will the Brogans manage to pull together a traditional family Christmas? And will Jo find the love and security she seeks in a time of such grave peril?

My Review
This is an absolutely brilliant read that had me hooked in from page one. Jean Fullerton gives you a fantastic insight as to what it would have been like in 1940 living through the World War 2 and having to get through the year with the introduction of ration books. Also it gives you the chance to see that despite all that the German fighter planes attacking the county the world still carried on and people still got on with their lives, even if the war gave them different roles to play in protecting their homes and their communities.
I loved getting to know all of the characters in this book and how their lives are all interwoven together. This is the second book in the series about the Brogan family however you don't need to have read the first book to understand he story and series of events. My favourite character was Jo as I thought that she was very feisty and not afraid to stick up for herself or her family and fight for what she thinks is right. You really felt for her as character with all of the heartache that she goes through but all of that just seems to make her stronger and not want to give up.
This book is written in such a way that you really feel you could be there with the characters experiencing everything the war has to throw at them, both good and bad. I found I got quite emotional reading about all the losses the families caught up in the bombings face and about all the families that were crushed in the buildings. but I also loves the determination and strength that the rescuers had in trying to get to all of the people stuck under the rubble of their homes.
This is an absolutely fantastic read set during World War 2 by Jean Fullerton and I am really looking forward to seeing what comes next for the Bronan Family.

No one Cancels Christmas by Zara Stoneley

No One Cancels Christmas
by
Zara Stoneley

Happy Monday. I am so excited to be able to read and review this latest release from one of my favourite authors, Zara Stonely and be part of her tour. Thank you to Rachels Random Resources for inviting me to take part. read on for my review.

Book Description
It’s the most magical time of the year, and for travel agent Sarah it’s also the busiest! But this year one man threatens to ruin Christmas for Sarah’s customers – Mr Grinch, Will Armstrong.
The Shooting Star Mountain resort is a magical place, and Sarah has fond memories of Christmas here as a little girl – visits to Father Christmas, husky rides in the snow and hot chocolate by a roaring fire. But as the resorts new owner, Will refuses to play snowball or to deck the halls with anything remotely resembling tinsel!
With customers complaining their Christmas is ruined, Sarah decides it’s up to her to convince Scroogey Will just how magical Christmas can be....
But getting Will into the Christmas spirit is hopeless – he is Bah Humbug personified! But as Sarah gets to know him better, she realises that underneath all the gloom is a man struggling with a pain of his own.
With the big day approaching, Sarah realises that the magic and sparkle can wait. This year, she’s going to spend Christmas day with someone special her very own Mr Scrooge...

My Review
This is such a wonderful festive read that will really get you in the mood for Christmas and make you get all snuggled up ready for winter.
Sarah works as a Travel agent for here Auntie Lynn, she is getting increasingly frustrated with the  bad feedback she is getting from guests that have stayed at her favourite christmas resort, The Shooting Star Mountain Resort and decides to take matters into her own hands. Sarah decides to spend christmas there and turn it back into the resort she remembers from her childhood, even if the very incredibly grumpy Will Armstrong isn't happy about it.
Sarah is on a mission and with the help of some of the other guests staying in the resort and Will's brother Ed is soon starting to get the resort back on its feet and feeling more festive, and more like the resort Sarah remembers.
This book is written in such a way that you are so absorbed in the story that you can't put it down. Three is a great mix of lots of different characters that all bring something unique to the story and all have a part to play in Sarah's mission to get the resort at its best again. I loved the relationship between Sarah and Will. I thought it grew very well throughout the story (even if at first I was not keen on the grumpy and moody Will and very much preferred his Brother Ed!)  and it was nice to watch their relationship develop and you soon realise the reason for Will's attitude towards his brother and the resort. I think it was great to read about the pasts of both Sarah and Will and I think its wonderful how they were able to gain each others trust and share their secrets from the past with each other.
The setting of this book is amazing and made me want to jump on a plane to Canada and I feel it was perfect for this book. The log cabins, snow, stars and the festive spirit all make this the perfect festive read and one to be enjoyed with a hot chocolate and a warm blanket.

Aphrodite's Closet by Suzy Turner

Aphrodite's Closet
by
Suzy Turner

Happy Saturday! Today I am on the blog tour for this absolutely brilliant read by Suzy Turner.
thank you Rachels random resources for inviting me to take part. Read on for my review and I hope you enjoy reading it.

Book Description
Agatha Trout didn’t even know she had a Great Aunt Petunia, so imagine her surprise when she finds Petunia left her a corner shop in her will. But it’s not just any old corner shop—it’s a corner shop that needs something unique, something the town of Frambleberry has never seen before. Influenced by her confident best friend, Coco, Agatha is soon convinced that there’s only one way to go: an adults-only sex shop.
While some of the townspeople are clutching their pearls in horror, others are open to the
new experiences this shop offers. But not everyone in Frambleberry is convinced. Will the women soldier on in the face of violent threats or will their fears get the best of them—and their new venture—before it even gets off the ground?

My Review
This a well written, fun and cheeky read and I loved it from start to finish. I also loved how the well designed front cover of the book tied in with the story and I think it really finished it off.  Shy Aggie is shocked to be left a shop in her Great Aunt Pertunia's will. At first she is at a loss as to what to do with it, but after being made redundant from her job in a library it has come up at just the right time. With the help of her best friend Coco they brainstorm ideas and it isn't long before the idea of an adult shop comes up. At first Aggie is shocked and really unsure about doing this but after much persuasion from Coco and support from her sister Christie, Aphrodite's Closet is born.
I loved reading about the experiences the girls had researching goods to stock in the shop especially when they visited the erotica fair, this really made me giggle and I can imagine how nervous Aggie would have been visiting something that was so completely out of her comfort zone. I wasn't surprised by the reaction of Aggie's mum, Trixie's, shock about the the new shop as it is still an area that there is quite a taboo about, even now in 2018. I thought the mystery around who could be trying to close the shop down was a great part of the story and the twist at the end with that is a perfect addition to the story and one I didn't see coming.
I loved the relationship between Aggie and Coco and the support they give each other when they both needed was lovely and I loved how much Coco helped Aggie come out of her shell.
This is such a fantastic and girly read that I read in one day. I loved it and I'm now off to download some more of Suzy's books to my kindle library.

Pictures In The Sky by Amanda Paull

Pictures In The Sky
by
Amanda Paul

Today I am on the blog tour for this Latest release by Amanda Paula.
read on for my review.

Book Description
She gave up on romance years ago. He’s going through the motions. Their lives change forever
when he makes contact out of the blue.
With her daughter leaving the nest, Michelle Cameron would rather spend her time with good
friends, a glass of fizzy and a box set, than with another idiot bloke chipping away at her self-esteem.
But when childhood friend Daniel Helmsley gets back in touch, the years roll away on a tide of
laughter and friendship, which soon gives way to another roller coaster of love, excitement and
panic. Can Michelle let herself trust again? What if Dan is just another idiot bloke, disillusioned with
the present and nostalgic for the past?
If you like cosy romance that makes you laugh as well as cry, then you’ll love this feel-good tale of
past disappointment, renewed friendship and finding true love.

My Review
This is a fantastic, fun and light-hearted read. It kept me engaged throughout the story, though at times I felt that the story could have been a little shorter. This however did not distract  from my enjoyment of the book. It is so well written and flows so easily as the story progresses.  I thought the character of Michelle was very well written and you get a great insight to her as she heads through life with all that it entails, getting older, her daughter leaving home and the start of a new relationship. You also get a great insight into her life as a child and growing up and the difficulties she had. This is something that I think has always stayed with her and has a big impact on her life.
As Michelle is getting on with her life and dealing with everything that is part of that you feel really drawn in She has a few stumbles on the way, some of which will have you laughing out loud.
This was the first book I have read by Amanda Paula and I am looking forward to reading more.

Till it Stops Beating by Hannah R. Goodman

Till It Stops Beating
by
Hannah R. Goodman

Today I'm on the blog tour for this great read from Hannah R. Goodman. Hope you enjoy my review.

Book Description
Seventeen year old Maddie Hickman's senior year begins with the good (the reemergence of The One That Got Away) , the bad (a cancer diagnosis, not hers but might as well be) and the WTF (an anxiety attack that renders her writhing on the floor upside down like a crab).
Adding to the spiralling anxiety is senior project, in the form of I've decided to write a book about The Other One That Got Away (and crushed my heart). Compounding it all is applying for college and keeping up with her friends. The ever mounting stress eventually rips her tight grip on all she hold dear.
Her breakdown leads to an unexpected road trip where she is forced to listen to her wildly beating heart. It is only in the back of a convertible with pop music blasting, that she discovers she must risk everything in order to really live.

My review
This is the first book I have read by this author and I did struggle to get into this at first. however once I got used to the way  it was written I read this very quickly. Once I started reading I also discovered that this was part of a series and not a standalone book. I think I may have understood the reading style and the storyline a little better had I read the others in the series however I feel it could also be read as a standalone read.  This book does a good job of showing the ups and downs of teenage life life. It is full of emotion and laugh out loud moments. I highlights some of the highs and lows experienced by Maddie as she goes through her teenage years and how she deals with all that life can throw at her as she goes from her teens to adulthood, including heartbreak and loss. Maddie has a great team of friends around her that her her along the way and they all have their own difficulties heading into adulthood too.
This book is written in such a way that you feel like you could be experiencing all the emotions and heartache these teens are feeling with them. Hannah R Goodman has obviously been experienced a lot of the emotions the teens will have felt as the advice given in the book is fantastic for teenagers everywhere. This wasn't my favourite book to read however it wouldn't put me off trying more by this author.

The Poppy Field by Deborah Carr

The Poppy Field
by
Deborah Carr

So today I am on the blog tour for this fantastic read from Deborah Carr  that will have you gripped from Start to finish and also have you reaching for the tissues.

Book description

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
Young nurse, Gemma, is struggling with the traumas she has witnessed through her job in the NHS. Needing to escape from it all, Gemma agrees to help renovate a rundown farmhouse in Doullens, France, a town near the Somme. There, in a boarded-up cupboard, wrapped in old newspapers, is a tin that reveals the secret letters and heartache of Alice Le Breton, a young volunteer nurse who worked in a casualty clearing station near the front line.
Set in the present day and during the horrifying years of the war, both woman discover deep down the strength and courage to carry on in even the most difficult of times. Through Alice’s words and her unfailing love for her sweetheart at the front, Gemma learns to truly live again.
This is a beautifully written epic historical novel that will take your breath away.

My Review
This books did exactly as the description says and it took my breath away. This is an amazing read of two different stories that come together as one fantastic book. The two stories are so well entwined with each other that you simple can't stop reading to find out what happens next.
The story of Gemma is set in the modern time. She has left her home and job, as a nurse in Brighton and has moved into a rundown farmhouse in the French village Doullens that her father has asked her to oversee the renovations. Gemma has needed a break form her job after the fall out of her relationship and has found the farmhouse an ideal retreat. it is here while doing the renovations that she meets Tom who who helps her out with the renovations. Tom is an ex service man who has plenty of secrets he would like to keep hidden from his past. With him and Gemma working so well together a relationship of sorts is formed and soon they are both opening up with each other. it is white they are doing the work on the farmhouse that they find some mysterious letters from many years ago. it is while reading these letters that Gemma finds out about Alice.
The story of Alice is set in France during the First World War. Alice is a volunteer nurse looking after the wounded soldiers that are brought in from the front line. She helps nurse them back to health under the watchful eye of a very strict matron. It is also here that she falls in love with Ed while he is being treated. The letters that Gemma is reading are the letters that Alice and Ed sent each other during the war. They describe all that is happening where Alice is posted and tell the story of the love they share.
The horrors that Alice would have seen here are so very well described and you feel all of the emotions that she is living with. I felt that Alice was so brave to leave her home in Jersey and volunteer to do what she did. I feel that Gemma is also very brave in realising she needs a break form her job and trying to find out what she really needs out of life.
I loved how the stories ran so well alongside each other and complimented each other. You can easily see the similarities in Alice and Gemma and just how much they would've had in common.
I adored this book and I'm sure you will too.

My Review
I fell in love with this from the first page and read it in one day. This is such a lovely cosy and festive  love story set on The Gower Coast.
Holly Cove is where Tia is sent by the lifestyle magazine she is journalist with after the death of her mother. Tia has found the grieving process so very hard and her boss feels that the change of scenery will do her the world of good. The idea is that Tia spends six weeks at the cottage in Holly Cove writing an article about relationships around the festive season. Little does Tia know that she herself might just find a relationship of her own and find that she doesn't want to leave. There is a brilliant cast of characters within the book that all have their quirks and all become a part of Tia's life.
Tia meets Nic, the owner of the cottage she is renting in strange circumstances and it isn't long before sparks of romance between them begin to fly. Tia is aware that there is part of his past that he isn't willing to share with anybody else but he does start to let Tia in.  There is fisher man Max who lives beside the beach who likes keeping himself to himself. Tia is keen to get to know him better and find out the secrets he may be hiding. There is also Olwen who is the housekeeper for the cottage that Tia is staying in. She takes Tia under her wing and looks after her.
It is also while staying in Holly Cove that Tia reaches out and starts to have a better relationship with her brother Will and his family and decides that they all need to have a magical family Christmas to make some new memories for them all to treasure.
I loved the setting for this fantastic read the way it is described is amazing and I would love to stay there.
I loved this book and I am looking forward to reading more from Lucy Coleman.
