Summer Season on the Seafront by Katie Ginger

Today it is my turn on the blog tour for this fantastic summer read from Katie Ginger. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
The Greenley Players are back practicing their Shakespeare and, as usual, things aren't going to plan.

Sarah Powell is fed up with her sad single status and when her estranged father walks back into her life things get even worse. Can dishy doctor Finn MacDonald mend her broken heart and help her figure things out?

TV star, Nate Hardy's career is going from strength to strength until his performance is interrupted and he has to flee the West End to hide away in Greenley. Will he ever get his career back on track or will Sarah and the rest of Greenley's madcap residents capture his heart forever?

My Review
Sarah Powell is not happy with her single life and feels like all those around her are all coupled up and happy. She is excited to be taking part in the latest play, The tempest, with the Greenley Players, however she is struggling with the lines and she is not sure the part is for her. It is not long before she is struggling with her private life too as she is shocked to find out that her estranged father, Ben, is back and he is in search of Sarah's forgiveness over what has happened in the past. Sarah is torn over what to do and the only ray of sunshine comes from Sarah's crush on the handsome Doctor Finn MacDonald. Will he become the one to helper solve her problems and become her happy ever after?

Nate is flying high with his career on the stage in the West End and he has plenty of offers for more work too. That is until one night his performance is interrupted by Hannah, with whom he had a one night stand. She is telling their secret to the world and is determined to make him pay for his indiscretion. After getting advice from his agent, Nate leaves the West End and seeks a hiding place in Greenley, just until the scandal blows over then he can return to his career and his life and get back to normal. Only things don't go quite to plan and Nate finds himself needing to stay in Greenley for longer. Will he ever get back to the West End or will the kindness and support he has received  from all of the characters living in Greenley make him want to stay?

What a fantastic read. I was quickly drawn into this book and was hooked from the first page to the last. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the different Characters in Greenley and how quirky they all were. This is the second book based in Greenley however it can be read as a standalone read.
I enjoyed reading the about Sarah. You get a good description of her past and this gives you a good understanding of why she feels the way she does and why she may be lacking in self confidence.
I felt really sorry for Nate. he has made one mistake but someone is trying to make him pay for that mistake by running his career and making him pay.  Which I thinks cruel and selfish.
The setting for this book sounds beautiful which makes this a perfect summer read.

About the Author

lives in the South East of England, by the sea, and apart from holidays to very hot places where you can sit by a pool and drink cocktails as big your head, she wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. Summer Season on the Seafront is Katie's second novel. Her debut novel The Little Theatre on the Seafront was shortlisted for the Katie Fforde Debut Novel of the Year award. She is also the author of some cosy mystery short stories. Katie loves making her characters either fall in love, or killing them off - it depends on her mood!
When she's not writing, Katie spends her time drinking gin, or with her husband, trying to keep alive her two children: Ellie, who believes everything in life should be done as a musical number from a West End show; and Sam, who is basically a monkey with a boy's face. And there's also their adorable King Charles Spaniel, Wotsit (yes, he is named after the crisps!).
