Finding Home by Kate Field

Today is my stop on the Blog Blitz for this heartwarming and uplifting new release from Kate Field. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to take part, and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description

She might not have much in this world, but it cost nothing to be kind…

Meet Miranda Brown: you can call her Mim. She’s jobless, homeless and living in her car… but with a history like hers she knows she has a huge amount to be grateful for.

Meet Beatrice and William Howard: Bill and Bea to you. The heads of the Howard family and owners of Venhallow Hall, a sprawling seaside Devonshire estate… stranded in a layby five hours from home the night before their niece’s wedding.

When fate brings the trio together, Mim doesn’t think twice before offering to drive the affable older couple home. It’s not like she has anywhere else to be. But as the car pulls into the picturesque village of Littlemead, Mim has no idea how her life is about to change…

An uplifting story of found family and true love perfect for fans of Fern Britton and Veronica Henry.

My Review
Miranda Brown, known as Mim has not had an easy life at all and a series of disastrous events lead to her living and sleeping in her car. Having no family around her Mim is used to having to look out for herself.
One night when trying to get settled into a safe parking space to stay for the night  Mim meets Bill and Bea who have broken down and are stranded 5 hours away from their Devon estate. They are desperate to get home as it is their Nieces wedding the next day and the whole family is currently awaiting their arrival in Devon. Mim makes a decision to help out the stranded pair and drives them home.
Bill and Bea are very kind and generous people and Mim finds herself warming to the pair of them on the long drive.
Upon arrival in the small seaside village of Littlemead Mim finds out just how big the sprawling estate belonging to the Howard family is and when they offer Mim the opportunity to stay overnight Mim accepts on the understanding that the next day she will return home.
Little does Mim realise just how persuasive and kind the Howard family can be and this becomes just the start of the next chapter in her life, and finding out just where she belongs.
I loved this book. It truly was uplifting and heartwarming, leaving you with a smile on your face.
I thought the setting in Littlemead sounds so pretty and the perfect setting for a fresh new start.
I enjoyed getting to know Mim. She has had such a hard life and after losing her job and her home has found herself at rock bottom. Mim is so used to having to look after herself that she finds it difficult to let others help her and let them into her life. It s wonderful to see her blossom and grow in confidence as the book progresses.
The Howard Family are a force to be reckoned with but are also so kind and compassionate to Mim. They are all busy within the lives but they feel like Mim is part of their family now too.
I loved getting to know all of the supporting characters within the story who all play a part in the life if Mim and the Howard family.
This is a wonderful story of family, trust and friendship, with a real community feel that is perfect for some escapism.
