Today I am excited to share with you my review of this brilliant new release from Angela Britnell. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour and thank you to Choc Lit for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Could one summer change your life?
When high-flying American lawyer Samantha Muir finds out she’s lost her partnership whilst on an assignment in London, she has a dramatic reaction.
Rather than returning home, she resigns, leaves her business suits behind and jumps on the first train to Cornwall at the encouragement of a friendly stranger.
The village of Little Penhaven, where Samantha eventually ends up, is a world away from her life in Knoxville, Tennessee – and local farmer Cadan Day is certainly a world away from any man she has met before. But could the Cornish village and Cadan play a part in Samantha’s summer of self-discovery?
This is a fantastic, romantic and funny read that is highly addictive and one I devoured in one sitting.
Samantha Muir is and American Lawyer who has been working on a big case in London and is excited to have been invited to take part in a very special celebratory meal. The reason for the excitement is she believes she is about to be made a partner within the firm she is working for. Unfortunately this is not the case and one of her fellow employees is given the partnership. Samantha is gutted and her reaction is to run away from the meal and run away from her job.
Samantha decides the best course of action is to resign from her job, she then heads to Paddington station to jump on the first train she can to get away from the whole situation.
Samantha meets Penny at the station and it isn't long before Penny persuades Sam that the she can come and stay with her in the small Cornish Village of Little Penhaven.
It doesn't take Sam long to settle into Little Penhaven and things seem to brighten up for her once she bumps into the very handsome Caden Day. He is not popular in the village and Penny and her daughter Heather both warn Sam to stay away as he is bad news, but there is a spark there between the two and maybe Sam could be the one to help him put his wrongs right.
What follows is the story of Sam and her summer in Little Penhaven. Will she find love in the village or will she get her heart broken?
I loved the setting for this book it sounds idyllic and the perfect setting for a summer romance.
I really enjoyed getting to know Sam and how her life was mapped out. I think she was very brave to change her life so drastically but I think this what she really needed to do to allow herself to grow and realise what she wants from life. I also really enjoyed the confusion at times with her and Canden with the difference in English and American sayings.
The character of Caden is very complex and it is great to see him open up and explain more about his past as you read through the book. You get a great insight into his past and you do understand his feelings of hurt and betrayal that haunt him and make him behave the way he does.
This is another amazing read from Angela Britnell and I'm already looking forward to reading what she brings us next.
