The Unlikely Like of Maisie Meadows by Jenni Keer

It is publication day for Jenni Keer and I am excited to share with you my review of this brilliant new release. Thank you to Rachel's Random Resources for inviting me to join the tour and for my copy of the ebook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Book Description
When Maisie Meadows finds herself single and jobless on New Year’s Day, she resolves that this will be the year she focuses on bringing her scattered family back together. Romance is all very well, but it’s the people you grew up with that matter the most.
But a new job working at an auction house puts her in the path of Theo, a gorgeous but unattainable man who she can’t help but be distracted by. As their bond begins to grow, Maisie finds herself struggling to fulfil the promise she made to herself – but the universe has other ideas, and it’s not long before the Meadows family are thrown back together in the most unlikely of circumstances…
Can dealing with other people’s treasures help Maisie to let go of the past, and teach her who she ought to treasure the most?

My Review
I was so excited to be offered the chance to read and review this latest release from Jenni Keer after falling in love with her debut book and I was not disappointed.
After finding her boyfriend in an intimate situation with a fellow colleague from work Maisie makes a big decision to leave her job. So not only is Maisie now single she is jobless too.
After spending Christmas alone with only her pet hamster, Nigel for company Maisie makes the decision that this year she will do her best to try and sort out her life and put her family back together.
With this is mind Maisie applies for a job in a local auction house and she delighted when she gets the job. She will be working there on their marketing but will be roped into other jobs too.
It is while at work that Maisie finds a teapot that used to belong to Meredith, a person that Maisie was close to as a child. Maisie is really drawn to the teapot as she feels there is a story behind it so she sets out to find the rest. Maybe if she can reunite the set she can reunite her family too.
It is while working at the auction house that Maisie meets the lovely Theo and the more she works with him the more she starts to feel attracted to him, but the more she gets to know him she realises that he is already taken and she needs to keep him as just a friend. Will romance blossom as Maisie settle in her new job and surroundings. And will Maisie be able to get her family back together too?
I loved this book from start to finish. I really enjoy the writing style of Jenni Keer, I find it so addictive and I love how this story seems to contain some magic too. It was really interesting getting to know Maisie and see her grow and develop both personally and within her job and is interesting to see the relationships she has with her siblings. There is a fantastic group of charters within the story who all add to the book and whom all play a part in the life of Maisie Meadows.

About the Author

Jenni Keer is a history graduate who embarked on a career in contract flooring before settling in the middle of the Suffolk countryside with her antique furniture restorer husband. She has valiantly attempted to master the ancient art of housework but with four teenage boys in the house it remains a mystery. Instead, she spends her time at the keyboard writing women's fiction to combat the testosterone-fuelled atmosphere with her number one fan #Blindcat by her side. Much younger in her head than she is on paper, she adores any excuse for fancy-dress and is part of a disco formation dance team.

The Hopes and Dreams of Lucy Baker was published in January 2019.
